Mamma Mia! - The Gift Set: 11/10

Post by DisneyFreak5282 »

I stumbled upon this on a website I frequently order CDs and DVDs off of, and I headed over to Amazon to see if this was true.

Apparently on November 10th, "Mamma Mia: The Movie - The Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! More Gift Set" will be released on both DVD and Blu-Ray.

The DVD edition will be the 2-Disc Special Edition DVD along with the CD soundtrack and a bonus "Collectible Book".

The Blu-Ray set will include the already-released Blu-Ray and the CD soundtrack, plus the "Collectible Book".

Both will come packaged in a book-like case that houses the DVD (or the Blu-Ray), the CD, and the book. That all comes packaged in what appears to be a sliding box that features a Polaroid of the standard DVD's cover. The DVD and Blu-Ray will come in their original packaging that was released last December, but it appears (on the DVD version at least), that the CD will be held in the same case, as the banner says "2-Disc Movie + CD Soundtrack" as opposed to "2-Disc Special Edition" like the original version did.

On the front of the package there is a "Press Here!" button, so I assume it will play part of a song (I'm guessing "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme", considering the title of the gift set, unless they go for "Mamma Mia!" or "Dancing Queen").

DVD MSRP: $34.98
Blu-Ray MSRP: $49.98

Here's a picture of the DVD Gift Set:

I think it's a little lame for a gift set. Just the movie with the CD? Any true fan has the film and soundtrack already. The "collectible book" doesn't seem that spectactular anyway. But who knows?

I am glad this is back out there -- this music needs to be heard. Although the musical versions aren't too great, I'm a huge ABBA fan and hope the film will inspire people to track down the original ABBA versions -- IMO, the ABBA originals are truly among the best songs music has ever had.

I'll just stick with my normal Blu-ray.

I agree that it's sorta crazy that they're re-releasing it, especially when they have a sequel in the works for next year (or 2011? I forget), when it will most likely be re-released again. If I get a Blu-Ray player maybe I'll get the Blu-Ray gift set, but that's it.
