Will DMR ever get released internationally?

Post by miklc »

Does anyone know if DMR will every get released internationally? I buy alot of Disney DVDs, and would like to have a simailr loyalty setup in the UK that the US has. To think of all the points I would have had now, had we had something like this! There's also some really nice prizes, grated you need a good few points under your belt. Anyway just thought I'd ask as I really think it should be avaliable internationally!

Actually, some sort of DMR program is currently running in France

Hopefully they are going to extend it to other regions as well.

DMR outside the States?

Post by leuchtmuschel »

It maybe possible, Disney will grant local DMR outside the States to promote Blu-ray. It depends on local decisions to do that.

But if Disney do that in Germany, it will be completely useless for me, because I only buy Blu-ray/DVD that appears in the States or Canada.

I see no chance of international DMR. Here are the reasons, why:

Disney only wants to sell Blu-rays/DVDs in their regions. Why should they promote international DMR, if region coding already exists to force customers to respect this?

International customers like me don’t care about DMR or similar actions. I care about the best program from Disney Company on Blu-ray/DVD I can, regardless of any regions.

Disney doesn’t want the circumstance of international shipping, and warranty.

The granted presents may be in conflict with local duties outside the States/Canada.

The granted presents often works only on the American power supply.

The granted presents may be in conflict with local technical orders.

Disney could go in trouble with local legal protection for children and young persons, if they promote Blu-ray/DVD appearing in the States/Canada with international DMR.

A lawyer within the Disney Company has a lot to do to fix all these things to make DMR working internationally! This will cost extra money.

I am very glad to announce that as of today Disney Movie Rewards have arrived in the UK :) Yesturday on my break at work I was sitting in the staff room watching the TV and an advert for Santa Buddies came on advertising it's release which was today, and after the advert it said and now collect Disney Movie Rewards and collect cool prizes! I nearly jumped out of my seat in excitment  So I went on the site yesturday, so far it's only Santa Buddies Blu-Ray and DVD and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on Blu-Ray (2 Disc DVD is out next Monday here) that are eligble titles with Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure and G-Force being the next titles to be released eligble. So I now have my first 150 points to register with my copy of Snow White whopp! Then I've got the 2-Disc DVD on pre-order and I'm getting Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure on DVD so that's another 200, ha it's going to take some saving! The prizes aren't that special but I know they will release more as time goes on and more people become involved. Aladdin PE is avaible for 500 points which I think is quite resonable, pity I bought a 2nd hand copy of eBay a few months ago. Anyhow here's the link to the site for anyone that's intrested http://www.disneymovierewards.co.uk/rewards/

*EDIT*

I just registered and registered my 150 points for Snow White and realised you also get 50 points for registering, I'm a happy bunny :D
