Halloween 2009
Winifred: Sisters, once again we find ourselves on the boards known commonly as UD.
Mary: Oh Winni hooray!...Winni?
Winifred: Yes Mary?
Mary: What is Ud?
Winifred: Confoundit Mary don't you remember? It's the online community where they discuss things related to the hand drawn rodent known as Rickey!
Mary: Mickey?
Winifed: Whatever! That is beside the point, this is where we encourage others to get into the Halloween spirit. As if there is anything else to do on the internet.
Sarah: Look up pictures of boys! I wonder if I can hook up with Johnny Depp?
Winifred: Sarah you blithering oaf! How many times must I remind you? Johhny is a girl you idiot! I saw him in a skirt and an Angora sweater once!
Mary: Uh Winni, I think Sarah is right. I mean have you seen him without a shirt on?
Winifred: Of course not, what do you think I use the internet for?! I have a Facebook page where I try to talk to Satan about ways to stay alive without catching children. I don't have time to stare at gender confused individuals!
Sarah: Winni, I found a video of a werewolf who doesn't even have to have a full moon to change, does that mean he's a werewolf?
Winifred: Let me see that. *watches what is the trailer for New Moon* Ugh you dolt, this is but a moving picture trailer for a sequel to that idiotic vampire movie!
Mary: Well since the first movie made so much money and since there is a sequel book I don't see why they shouldn't make a sequel.
Winifred: Ugh I hate this 21st Century, it's even more ridiculous than the last one. At least with non magical based communications there are better ways to let people know what Halloween is really about.
Mary: Oh that's so true Winni, I actually found a great recipe for a new twist on Mummies pie that includes a rare scorpion...
Winifred: Besides food Mary, we don't all stuff ourselves like you do. I sure all the UC members here remember you pigging out at the supermarket in '93.
Mary: But Winni that wasn't shown in the dramatization of our adventure that year.
Winifred: I know but isn't there "unused scenes" or something on the DVP?
Mary: It's not included.
Winifred: What?! You mean they can put music on a stick the size of Sarah's brain but they won't put unused scenes in the DVP? Oh, what a world. Anyway, where was I?
Sarah: Halloween?
Winifred: Oh yes well UT members...
Mary: Winni, come to think of it how are we even alive now? I mean in the dramatization they can clearly see that we exploded that morning so...
Winifred: *Gives a blank stare* You see what I have to put up with UE members? But enough of your "logic" Mary, Halloween is getting closer by the minute. That means we must discuss with the members here about costumes and decorations and, yes even food Mary, the sooner the better.
Mary: Indeed.
Sarah: *reading a website's homepage* You must be 18 years of age or older to view this site...
Winifred: Mary, help me get this dimwit away from that thing!
*they pull Sarah away form the computer*
Sarah: Nooooooooooooo!

So I bring my adorable nearly 11 year old daughter out costume shopping...We pass right by the Hannah Montana and princess costumes. I showed her some adorable fairy costumes...nah....Native American princess? Nah....How about Elizabeth from POTC...nope...She finally finds her favorite costume. So I look it over and figure out how to make it better and we buy it.
What does my beautiful, adorable, sweet, loving daughter want to be for Halloween?
Why a werewolf of course!

The mask is made for adults, but its still small, so it fit her pretty well. The eye holes are huge, so either we will apply makeup around her eyes to "blend in" or I will glue see-through black fabric and paint some eyes on them. So long as she can see well we are good to go. I may figure out a way to add paw pads to the gloves since the palms are just flat black. But the tops of the hands are the cool latex and fur. The teeth are resin and very realistic looking. I wish I could figure out a way to attach it to her lower jaw to open and close the mouth. Maybe give me enough time and I can do it
We are going to cut up a pair of her jeans, have fur poke out of the rips and make a tail. And she'll wear a shirt with fur coming out of the elbows and such. I am going to make her some feet too. I got some faux fur. Walmart had the closest to the color, but its still way too white. Like faux white/silver fox fur.
Its in the washer now on a pre-wash before I dye it gray.

For those who remember the Abe Sapien costume I made her...I go stupid crazy with this crap.

Oh man... One Halloween I had the GREAT opportunity of dressing up as Darth Vader from Star Wars. My brother in law had bought himself a DV costume, and it would have fit me. My University had a Halloween party and I attended. But instead of dressing up I decided to go as my normal self. The reason why was because I didn't want to be the only idiot wearing a costume.
Boy was I wrong...
Nearly 80% of the attendees were costumes, and they were a BLAST. Even people I thought would never dress up did dress up and it was hilarious! It was the most fun Halloween party I had ever attended.

Wish I had a reason to dress up this year for Halloween
Hm..maybe I can kidnap my younger cousin and take him around haha.
I've already gotten the apartment all done up. Sort of. I lack the same amount of decorations for Halloween as I do Christmas. >_>
Anyways. Who knows, it's still early in October so I still have time to get things going

Siren, I think it is so great (and hilarious!) your daughter wants to be a werewolf! If I have a daughter, I wouldn't mind her wanting to be a princess, but I'd love it if she wanted to be something different and ferocious!
Last year I cut up a box and painted it and became WALL-E; I want to be Carl's house from Up this year. Although it means I'll be wearing another box and it's so tiring to do so when you're at a party! I also thought about tying balloons on my chimney to pass them out to passerby trick-o-treaters who want one.

I've been really behind lately on my Halloween display due to some doctor visits, but hopefully I'll get started on it this week. I have some new things lined up for this year, and will be sure to take some pictures of them.

Well, after Mia's back hooves went "missing" (aka likely stolen), I've been meaning to buy new hooves, but just haven't had the extra cash with my daughter's birthday, halloween, and the other holidays coming up.
So I went to Michael's and made do with what I got.
This first foot took about a hour...not bad for not knowing what the hell I am doing and for the first try, I am okay with the result. I just don't have the tools and materials she did to make the original hooves.
Originally she used slip on sneakers. The hoof was made of a Christmas decoration. And then all sorts of foam, rubber, etc. Very cushy and the hoof moved quite well when I walked.
For my wanna-be hooves...I got some faux white fur and silver foam....and lots and lots of hot glue. I used a pair of my favorite boots too. I had a couple of pairs of sneakers, but I would have needed foam to sculpt out the round, wide hoof..these are big clod-hopper gothic boots that already a bit hoof shaped, so I was able to make due with what I had. I think I may like them better than sneakers anyways due to the ankle support. I may add horseshoes on them, if I can buy some lightweight new horseshoes somewhere.
But here's what I got so far...

And I may be in the market for a new vacum cleaner after this. lol
Now that I look at the pic....the pic actually does my hoof far more justice than it deserves, lol It doesn't look that good.
And there is white fur EVERYWHERE in my bedroom. It looks like a Great Pyrenees exploded in my bedroom. And next up is werewolf fur...I'm gonna learn from this experience and cut the fur OUTSIDE.
Second one turned out about the same I'd guess. I tried it all on. It will take some getting use to with the extra height and weight in the back feet, but I think it will do me just fine till I get the artist to make me new hooves. I am bathing Mia's body now... amazing how dirty and disgusting she can get sometimes. But its such a task to bath and dry her. Just ask the girls at the grooming salon

Mia was groomed and bathed there last time. But it was kinda last minute tonight I decided to try and do it myself here.
Just got her done with her bath and she is nearly dry. I decided to try the washing machine as opposed to hand washing. Hand washing was an all day task. Her creator said the bodysuit was built strong enough to take a washer on gentle cycle, but frankly, I've been too afraid. But I am more lazy than afraid this time and tried it. I added a bit of bleach, along with laundry detergent and softener. Then I spent 15 minutes watching the washer suspiciously. Waiting for the fur to mat or seams to come undone. I watched the water get gray and thought...ew...she was a dusty and dirty unicorn. Once I was sufficiently satisfied she was safe, I let the washer finish. The bodysuit is still wet, but I can't put it in the dryer and everyone is sleeping so I can't use the hair dryers. So I hung it up in the room to finish air drying, but the spin cycle did a great job at getting a lot of the water out. And I once again, have a white unicorn

She looks great, Siren! I hope you'll be able to use her again soon.
Just decided to post some pictures now of what I have coming up for our Halloween display. Don't have much up yet, but we do have the cemetery, although Levi Tation and I.L. Beback are currently out of commission while dad and I fix them. This year we also managed to get now a blue spotlight to shine through the tree down onto them, and dad got some mini-fencing from the hardware store to make like a family plot fence in the front. A lot still needs to be done, like hanging up the noose, the spiderwebs, get the Pumpkinhead figure in the window, and the Aunt Polly changing portrait, but just wanted to share what we have so far.

AWESOME graveyard!
OMG, I am beside myself in how proud I am of myself, lol. I don't normally toot my own horn, but I am now. I really didn't want to let my little girl down in making her a werewolf costume. I had her put the shirt and jeans on tonight and marked her elbows, knees and calfs so I knew were to add the fur. And then I got to work on her shoes.
I sat here watching Jeff Dunham on Jay Leno and now Destination Truth and got pretty far.
Started with some scrap foam, shoes, sculpted claws, and the fur I dyed and painted

Hot glued the foam and claws to the shoes, trimmed the foam to the shape of feet

Furred and only needs the final details of a bit more trimming to give it better shape and here you go, first foot done!

I'm a long way from making a quad-suit unicorn, but its a start
