Poll: The Princess and the Frog

We have been discussing the upcoming The princess and the frog on this board for ages now, and as the release date approaches I'm getting more curious how the feelings about this movie are devided. Hence this little poll.

I am more excited for this movie than I have been for any other in a very long time. I think it's the return to traditional 2D animation. I am not only buying tickets in advance for my entire family of seven, but for my sister's family of three as well and bringing them along with us. I already have it scheduled in my budget.

I chose the first option. I'm certainly going to see this movie, without a doubt. Maybe not first-day, but I've never done that. I'm just very excited for this film.

I think I'm a mix of the first two options--I'm skeptical about how good this film will be, but I still want to see it eventually. And I want it to succeed even if it turns out not to be that good, which is a possibility, just because needs a 2D hit for inspiration.

^^ Same here, I too would describe myself as a mix of the first two options. I honestly don't know how I feel... I was more excited about the movie back in 2007 than I am now. I have my reservations about animation (too DTV looking) and music, but then I see that amazing trailer and all my doubts go away and I get all giddy inside... But it could just be nostalgia playing tricks on me. Regardless of all that, I'll definitely be first in line when it opens here.

I am so beyond excited for this film!!!! When it was announced that Randy Newman would be doing the music instead of Alan Menken, yeah, I was bummed, but since the characters will be singing (some if not all the songs), then I'm even super-excited for the music.

I adore Prince Naveen- I know that he'll be one of my favorite Disney characters.

I'm always super-excited for new DACs, but I am so excited to see some traditional animation on the big screen; I much prefer the look of "2D" to "3D".

I am a bit mixed. It does look good, but I do not want to set my expectations too high in case the movie turns out to be a letdown.

I think you should go support the film, Disney, and traditional animation by seeing the film even if you hear it sucks, and even if you think it may suck.

After all, you still may be surprised, but it's about the support. We all know that Disney, indeed, really is needing this movie to do well financially to continue traditional animation.

Even if you don't think your tickets will do anything, take your family and friends, and even if you don't think that will do much, it's not about that. It's just about support. You tried, you know? At least you did something.

And c'mon, even though I have been harsh on the amount of frames and cartooniness, overall, yes, the animation looks gorgeous and in some places spectacular.

Overall, I'm extremely happy that Disney's FINALLY producing some 2D animation again. However, I'm terrified that this work might turn out like Home on the Range and be all hyped-up and overall a poor movie. Me, personally, I really enjoy all the DAC's through Brother Bear, minus Treasure Planet...and Atlantis to a degree. For the longest time, I refused to watch any animated Disney movies after Emperor's New Groove, or even Mulan for a while. But Brother Bear really impressed me, and I rather liked it (or else that wouldn't be my username! ). So, I'm trying to keep an open mind. Who knows? Maybe I'll be impressed with The Princess and the Frog as well. But I voted that i'm going to wait out the storm. I want to read the reviews and impressions from other people before I spend the coin to see it in the theaters (I am a poor college student, after all).

Given whose behind this film, I think that the film will most likely do pretty well...not Disney Rennaisance well but still pretty well (I'm thinking more along the lines of Lilo & Stitch well) but the effort being put behind it and considering that it's a princess film that's been sparking plenty of early hype should help it.

Depending on whether or not I have money to blow, I will probably go see it when it hits theaters. I just cant say no to good animated films.

This is a no brainer. even if its only average, its still hand drawn animation, and it should feel fresh for that alone.

Yes, because if it's crappy and successful, Disney will recognize that crap sells and will hurry up and produce more crap - the never-ending cycle of compost! (Just kidding.)

I'm still out on a limb about TPatF. I really want to like it, but it just feels like they're trying too hard. We'll see.

Based on what I've seen so far, read about the characters etc., it seems to me that it's going to be another highly formulaic, predictable rehash of most 1990's movies, with loud, obnoxious sidekicks, over-the-top animation and sincere moments ruïned by childish jokes.

But what do I know? I haven't seen the film yet.

I really enjoyed the teaser-trailer on the "Sleeping Beauty" Blu-ray. This should be a really great movie.

yes, i'm really looking forward to the Movie. all the stuff i've seen so far looked really good, so i have my hopes up for this one.
