Disney/Pixar's Up DVD and Blu-ray Discussion

Post by Mickeyfan1990 »

Digitalbits has the story:

http://www.digitalbits.com/#mytwocents

"Also, we're starting to see reports from various retail sources online that Disney and Pixar's Up will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray on 11/10, but we haven't yet confirmed that with our sources, so add much salt. More as it comes in."

They reverse the day and the month in the US, so it's November 10th :). Still, only a month after the theatrical release, so it's definitely going to be imported. Probably will be seeing it in theaters first (perhaps in 3D, if that's showing).

It looks like the Blu will have a lot of exclusives. It makes me want to shove it in a DVD freak's face and say "SUCK IT!" Ahaha. I like the DVD cover more though, but whatever. :)

Oooh! Excited! I like the DVD cover better, but am for sure buying the 4-Disc set. I love having a digital copy on my Mac so I don't have to have the DVD with me on say a plane or car ride. And I can watch the DVD now with the comfort knowing I'll have the better looking Blu-ray for later!

I might be wrong... but I think DIsney's also going to release a 3-Disc DVD, like Wall-E... and a 2-Disc BD, for those who don't want the DVD and DC... just a guess...

ultimatedisdney.com wrote:August 6, 2009 - Disney has informed retailers of the four home video releases in which they'll make Pixar's Up available on November 10th. A single-disc standard DVD ($29.99 SRP) will contain the film plus theatrical short Partly Cloudy and all-new Dug's Special Mission. A 2-Disc Deluxe DVD ($39.99 SRP) will add an audio commentary by director Pete Docter, the documentary "Adventure is Out There" on the filmmakers' research journey to South America, "The Many Endings of Muntz" (an alternate ending of sorts), and a digital copy.
Blu-ray fans get double the disc count with a 4-Disc Combo Pack ($45.99 SRP) that adds Cine-Explore with BonusView, Global Guardian Badge and Geography games, 8 documentaries, and BD-Live to the Deluxe DVD and digital copy platters. Finally, those with income to spare might be interested in the Luxo Jr. Premium Pack ($199.99 SRP) which includes a collectible lamp modeled after Pixar's bouncy short star that is designed to hold a complete Pixar Blu-ray collection. Artwork for all four versions has been posted here.

That lamp is so MINE. I've been wanting to buy the target lamp that almost looks like Luxo, Jr. but thank goodness I waited! Hopefully this isn't TOO expensive!

I love both art! I love the 1-disc art more, but I think that's because it has more character and they have more gesture.

Edit: I just looked at the SRP...200 for a lamp?! I'm going to wait this one out...

Real classy. We'll remember that next time the "Blu freaks" whine because a title like Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Pete's Dragon, Oliver and Company, Lilo and Stitch, etc., etc., etc., only gets reissued on DVD with no precious BD in sight!

Wow, 4 discs? This is definitely going to be a day one purchase for me. The lamp gift set looks good, but I would not want to shell out that much for it.

I don't know. I guess you should ask the person who wanted to "shove it in the face" of "DVD freaks" that the BD will have tons of bonus features not on the DVD, why the thread took that direction. (And all the DVD gets on the second disc is the crappy digital copy. And yet to get the few bonus features they do offer on DVD, you have to buy the alleged "2-Disc" version, when those few features added to that version could have obviously fit on the single disc).

At any rate, you don't see Aaron or Disneykid or Darth Prime, etc, making posts like that, even though they support and enjoy BD. I am not here to start trouble but if anyone takes cheap shots at DVD and those of us happily sticking with it, I'll be here to defend the format and it's loyal customers.
