Defective Walt Disney Treasures DVD

Post by R2-JD »

Well, it has happened. My first ever defective DVD. EVER. And I have been buying dvd's since 97.

I purchased Mickey Mouse in Living Color: Volume 2 last summer new and still factory sealed. At the time I got it I did not have Mickey Mouse in Living Color: Volume 1, so I opened it to check it out and set it aside as I did not want to watch it until I got the first volume. I finally got around to watching it recently and disc 1 is defective . Disc 2 works fine but disc 1 won't play. I did manage to get it to play for a few seconds but it froze up. I tried it in three different players and no go. The disc looks perfectly fine. No scratches or any other visible deformities. I am so ticked off. I should have tried playing it when I got it.

My thoughts are that Disney won't replace it as it is 5 years old and I bought it off of Ebay (even though it was still factory sealed). Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Well back to hunting down another Treasures dvd. By chance is there anyone out there with a spare Mickey Mouse in Living Color: Volume 2 Disc 1?

Well I don't know if Disney can replace your disc, but I know they are still selling copies of Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume 2 at Disney Shopping online:

If I were you, R2-JD, I would still call Disney and see if you can get a disc replacement. MMICV2 is still widely available and even though it isn't in print anymore, chances are that Disney has spare discs lying around. The way disc replacement works is they send you an envelope and you send them your disc. When they receive it, they send you a new one. If they don't have any copies left, I would suggest buying a used copy on eBay or Amazon and just swapping out the faulty disc.

Thanks for the input Goofystitch and Uncle Remus.

I did try contacting Disney as suggested and the guy told me they couldn't replace the disc because I purchased it on eBay. He told me to try cleaning the disc (even though I told him it is perfectly scratch free and in mint condition). I'll try it. Don't think it will work. But I'll try it.

So it looks as though I will have to buy another set.

That stinks! Doesn't Disney have a disc replacement program?
