I got robbed!

Post by The Little Merboy »

I came home to my apartment yesterday, and my door was unlocked. Which isn't normal, because I have an american cocker spaniel, named Brinkley. So I ALWAYS lock my door, and it wasn't, so I knew something wasn't right. Well, they took my HD tv, blu ray player, surround sound, wii, ipod, nikon slr camera, all my jewelry, nintendo ds lite, dyson and ALL OF MY DISNEY MOVIES, that is DVD and BLU

I literally started collecting, INCLUDING SLIP COVERS, since Snow White Platinum Edition. My heart is broken

I am just thanking the lord, that my dog wasn't harmed or taken. Even though, she does have a home again chip. I WOULD RATHER THEM TAKE EVERYTHING, than touch my dog. I am thankful for that, all that other stuff is replaceable. It just hurts, I am still in shock.

I'm terribly sorry and shocked to hear that. :(
Did you call the cops ?
If you live in an apartment, then there's a high chance that they were your neighbors, I mean no one would rob an HDTV and walk around the street carrying them, they probably hang out on the same floor as you, so keep that in mind.

Yeah, and a reported number of 5 break in's in my building ALONE yesterday! It couldn't have been someone here, because, they even broke into vacant apartments.
And I chose this place, because it's SUPER NICE, and nasty or anything. UH!

Oh no! TLM, I'm so sorry to hear about that, but you're right; thankfully no harm came to your dog.

man....that really stinks....thankfully your dog is okay....

I always disagree with what firemen or police say get out of the house if there is a fire you can replace your pets....when you really can't..I mean each one has their own personality....but in situations like those....I can see that your dog has a nice owner....

Hopefully the thief will be caught...

I feel so bad, I mean so much money spent on those, and all te work you had to do, I'll pray for you.

But at least the dog is okay. I always worry about the animals first.

Did you take a video or pictures of your apartment? Can't they loan you money or something to replace everything? I remember Bill doing that when his house was robbed.

Anyway, thank God your doggie was okay! If mine was hurt, I don't know what I would do. :(

Ugh, that utterly sucks. I have lost most faith in humanity, and that totally doesn't help. I feel so sad that this happened to you, but I agree- I'm so glad that your dog is safe. I hope whoever broke in didn't hurt your dog at all.

I agree with Dan about having a visual inventory, or at least having receipts for your TV and Wii and whatnot. Most people probably don't have an inventory, though.. Do you have renter's insurance?

Well, if you put anything on your belongings so you can identify them, look on eBay for items with that identifier, Then notify the police or eBay about the robbery and the selling on eBay and they should help you

While it always suck when people steal the stuff you work hard for be grateful that they didn't hurt you or anyone else. Having your Wii, iPod and DVDs stolen suck. They always do. But they can be replaced, especially if you manage to net some insurance money or have someone else help you. But if they took your life or someone else's life then that hurts even more.

Sorry to hear this happened.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Personally, after finding relief over no one being hurt I'd feel more angry about my space being violated than anything else.

I hope whoever did this gets caught and you can get your stuff returned.

In my case, I would get very angry and upset if the following things were robbed:
- My computer, because that's where I have all of my written work, which are personal, for school and from my Nintendo World Report work

- My wallet, not because of the money (I am always broke so, heh, good luck), but because of my driver's license, my social security number, my college ID and such

- Personal documents

Everything else if it can get replaced fine.

First of all, I would never leave my wallet home when no one is there, or at all, really.

Second of all, I would print all your schoolwork and such, just in case such a thing were to happen. Robbery is not the only way you could lose them.

I never leave home without my wallet. And I make multiple hard copies and do disc and pen drive back ups of my documents. I'm just stating that I would be very angry is something that is very, very personal is stolen since anything related to my person will not be easy to recover.

That is horrifying! I would be heartbroken as well. Best of luck in getting it all sorted out and I hope the culprits are caught.

Well, you're not supposed to keep your Social Security card in your wallet, because if you lose your wallet, or if it's stolen, they can steal your identity!!!
