Unreleased DVD Sets
I am sure that I'm not the only person that's mad because some of our favourite shows seem to have been forgotten on dvd. The last volume of Gargoyles, the last volumes of Ducktales, Gummi Bears (my personal favourite), Rescue Rangers, Talespin, and Darkwing Duck. C'mon Disney, don't leave us hangin'.
Think about this. Once bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread.

I wish they'd release Season 2 of "Lizzie McGuire"- you can get a good number of Season 2 episodes on the 4 individual 4-episode compilation DVDs, and I might eventually have to buy those (same with the "That's So Raven" compilation DVDs). And I wish that other Disney Channel shows (everything from "Kids, Incoporated" and "MMC" to "Flash Forward" and "Ready or Not" (which aren't even Disney) to both "The Torkelsons" shows to "The Famous Jett Jackson" and "The Jersey" to "Phil of the Future" and "That's So Raven") would come out in season sets. And I'd like to know when (and if) Season 2 of "Hannah Montana" is coming out.

Honestly I am thrilled with what we got with Talespin and Ducktales which I consider the cream of the crop of the Disney Afternoon stuff. Aladdin, Emporer's New School and Timon & Pumbaa would be nice - maybe the 20 best episodes of each.
I broke down and got a couple of series on bootlegs - Little Mermaid and Goof Troop and House of Mouse because I did not believe I would ever see them.

oh i agree.....where the hell is ducktales, talespin, gummi bears and five mile creek. disney needs to get off there asses and complete what they have started. they also need to complete the WDT swampfox as well. if you start something you best damn well complete it. to me its a waste of money to start something and cant get the whole set cause disney are being assholes about it.

Disney is pretty heartless for ending a lot of these series with only 1 set to go. Here is my thread about the Disney Afternoon DVDs:

I'm dying for all the stuff they started and didn't finish. These are my biggest Disney DVD-related gripes. I even have been finishing getting those 4 episode Lizzie releases since it seems like we won't get a second boxed set anytime soon. Just got v. 3 in the mail and need to order the 4th when I get a little more moolah. Then I guess I'll have to go after the couple of Kim Possible compilation DVDs I still need (I have the Secret Files and the Movie, and I recently got the Disney Channel Holiday DVD). Oh, for the rest of Gummi Bears, DuckTales, Darkwing, Gargoyles, Talespin, Lizzie, Swamp Fox, and all of Little Mermaid on DVD!!!! (among many others!)

I remember "So Weird"...it was my least favorite Disney show, actually. I liked it better when Annie came to the show (probably because it was even more music-oriented); maybe I would like it better now that I'm older, I don't know, but that's the one Disney Channel show I would've be so eager to get. But I know that it has a big following, so Disney should put it on DVD with the rest of their shows!

One of my friends got me hooked on Gargoyles... and I quickly bought the two existing DVD sets of it.
And then I torrented the rest of the season. If Disney wants to complain, they can at least offer me the choice to buy it from them first
But I wouldn't mind something better than a TV rip, especially since I'm big on closed captioning. Though maybe using my friend's HD DVR, I can downscale the upscaled TV airings, un-watermarking in the process, and I can make my own DVDs. For now I'm settling for the AVIs just so I can watch the rest of the season.
But yeah, it annoys me too... only instead of whining I actually do something about it

Yes, it's especially refreshing since Disney reads this board and knows that there are some fans who'll do the job that Disney doesn't feel like doing, copyright laws be damned.
It's so refreshing that some DVD sets undersell for various reasons (fan bootlegs being one of them), which prompts Disney to not continue releasing the sets.

I think they forgot how to market to collectors. Used to be--you'd walk into the Disney Store and they'd be selling animation cels and other collectibles for older fans. Nowadays they only seem able to sell merchandise to five-year-old little snips who want to grow up to be princesses. (Yeah, right, girls. Good luck with that. )
But to my point--there is probably a good-sized market for Disneyana collectors of dvds...they are rarely being serviced. I know I'd buy Lilo & Stitch and a half-dozen other complete sets...were they available. I can't understand why Disney cannot produce and market their own wares (unless it's something for those little princess bee-otches...)

Well, if Disney actually gave me the option to buy it, I would. I believe I covered that. But hey, when it all comes down to it, downloading unreleased shows is not hurting them at all, because it's not currently on the market.I like how you openly talk about illegal piracy.
As someone wrote on a torrent blog, often times sharing older and unreleased stuff is basically the same as buying a CD on eBay - all money that's been made from it has been made and by your purchase they aren't gaining any extra. Same with your downloading - they wouldn't be losing anything. I buy plenty of Disney DVDs (except the ones that have blatantly bad aspect ratios, I boycott those)... but I don't sit around and whine when something isn't available.
Disney reads this board? Nice to know, and it's also making me lose even more faith in the company, knowing that they read it and despite pages and pages of users saying how badly they want a release of Song of the South, or want them to actually release their films in the proper aspect ratios, just continue to ignore the true fans and market to parents and little kids...Yes, it's especially refreshing since Disney reads this board and knows that there are some fans who'll do the job that Disney doesn't feel like doing, copyright laws be damned.
Again, we get to the controversy about piracy, as it was discussed in that off-topic thread... Some believe that piracy directly hurts a company, while many others think it doesn't at all. If something is readily available (and I mean like, you can walk into a store and buy it... even Gargoyles has to be specially ordered from Amazon or elsewhere, unless you want to pay far more than the suggested retail price at For Your Extortion, um, I mean Entertainment...), then people will go out and buy it. But with stuff that isn't available at all, has grotesquely high prices, etc. people will find it easier to just pirate it. I've already stated my beliefs on it - I'll buy things where it's affordable enough, and readily available. However, I don't mind downloading stuff at all, since it's very obvious that piracy is in fact not hurting the companies (a CEO from Sony actually admitted that the company was making money from piracy - mainly the people who buy PSPs just to hack them, where if they weren't hackable they wouldn't buy them at all), or in fact helping the economy (Statistics show that movie ticket sales increased 17.5% from 2007 to 2008 alone, that's a staggering increase given the recession... surely you can't prove that the number is going down at all?)It's so refreshing that some DVD sets undersell for various reasons (fan bootlegs being one of them), which prompts Disney to not continue releasing the sets.
THIS.I doubt we will ever see shows like Ducktales, Gummi Bears, or Rescue Rangers get more releases because Disney probably thinks it would not sell. All they care about right now is Hannah Montana, High School Musical and all that other tween junk.
As much as selling Hannah Montana may be a lucrative move for Disney, there is still a demand for their older shows - as evidenced by this forum. However, let's face the facts, they just simply don't care... which leads me back to square one and the downloading scenario

We need ALL their good shows
I'd seriously buy the remaining episodes on DVD if they release them (Not season 3, that doesn't count..)
Yes, you heard right, I would actually buy something! :O I know, major shock to some people, given what you all think of me
But I just accept the fact that Disney doesn't care and will likely never give their shows proper releases. (Except the teeny-bopper crap, and I really don't care if those sink or swim, they'll always suck to me)

I am all for downloading if I am not provided a legitimate version to purchase. Should we all just wait around forever for something to come out when we know it never is going to? I've downloaded every episode of Kim Possible because it is not available in region 1. Disney is not missing out on any money because they don't have a retail version out there. Their loss, my gain. Too bad, so sad.
