Wrinkle in Time Update

Post by Swiss »

Hello all, thank you for your continued interest in Madeleine L'Engle
and her work. Madeleine is doing very well, enjoying the winter months
in New York City and maintaining her health through serene and restful
living. She sends you all her best.

We know that many if not all of you are anxiously awaiting some word on
when the "Wrinkle In Time" movie will air. We're sorry to say that we
have still not received any official word on that but we thought we'd
share with you what current information we do have:

You may know that the movie aired at the Toronto Children's Film
Festival where it won the "Best Feature Film Award." An alternate
version has also aired on Australian, German, and Swiss television. The
American version premiered last weekend at the Dallas Children's Film
Festival, where it sold out in 5 minutes! Audience reaction seems to be
overwhelmingly positive--a fact which is of course very gratifying to
all involved. There is a good chance that the film will also play the
New York Children's Film Festival in March. We hope to receive
confirmation of that soon.

As for when the film might air on ABC, we must again stress that we
have received no official notice. But as of right now, May of this year
looks likely. Things have changed so frequently and been up in the air
for so long that we are keeping our expectations low and suggest that
you do the same. But we are hopeful that the wonderful response from
the film festivals will motivate the powers-that-be to finally make a
descision. If you are so inclined, we encourage you to express your
eagerness to see the movie by writing to ABC's Audience Relations
Department at netaudr@abc.com. Perhaps some grass-roots activism will
do the trick :)

In other news, we are happy to announce an addition to the website: we
have created a survey designed to give us a better idea of who you,
Madeleine's internet-savvy readers, are and what your experiences with
Madeleine's work have been. Currently, this survey is in a trial phase
and is open only to those who have signed up for updates. Please help
us to improve the site, have more informed interaction with Madeleine's
publishers, and generally know more about the community of readers that
Madeleine touches. We plan to post the results once we receive a
meaningful number of responses. We hope to have more such interactive
web content in the near future. Thanks in advance for your help. Here
is the link to the survey:
