UltimateDisney.com: Disney Q&A

Post by Maerj »

Hey guys! I noticed that lately we have been getting a lot of questions here at the message board that can easily be answered by going here:

http://www.ultimatedisney.com

I don't want to single any one person out here, but some of this stuff can be found VERY easily off of the site's main page. Here is a brief overview of what can be found there:

Title Listings

Animated Classics: A list of the Animated Classics.
Other Animation : Animated films and DVDs that are not part of the Classics series.
Live Action : 1980-Present.
Live Action : Before 1980.
Direct to Video : Direct to Video releases.
Out Of Print Movie Lists
DVD+Worldwide Product Search
F.A.Q. : Most Frequently Asked Questions are answered here!

Anyway, you get the idea. There are many more features accessible from the main page. FAQ should be the first place to look when you have a question, if you can't find your answer there, anyone here will be more than happy to try to answer any questions you might have.

Luke puts a lot of work into the site, so be sure to check it out:

Be sure to keep clicking the Google ads as well, they help support the site!

Very well said, Maerj. I completely agree.

Lately, there have been several newbies around here, and that's great, the more the merrier, but we've been seeing a nasty trend of said newbies coming straight to the forum and asking common questions which can be answered very easily and quickly by doing a tiny bit of research and just in general looking around the site.

As a former webmaster I can attest to the fact that it takes an awful lot of time, effort and love to make and successfully maintain a website. Luke puts all of that time, effort, love and more into Ultimate Disney, and it's a shame to see all of the great content he produced being wasted because of some people's "I'm lazy, will you find the answer for me because I don't want to look" attitude.

The site is an exellent resource. Please, use it.

Excellent idea to make this a sticky...long overdue infact.

Just wanted to say that I feel pretty confident that most of the new members aren't too lazy to look something up, but sometimes it's easy to get lost in the myriad of links that are available from the homepage. Now that the FAQs are stickied here in the main forum this will hopefully make it easier on EVERYONE :thumb:

I´m sorry but now I must say something - maybe something not so nice!

It begin to be very difficult to search through all posts on this forum - so please try to not start new threads that already exists.
I think this is something we all should care about a little more.
Take time and search through the posts already posted and see if you can put it somewhere in such one, instead of starting a new thread - for things that we already have began to discuss elsewhere.
This should go with all of us I think.
The site and posts will be much more easy to search and find if someone want to go back and add something or correct some earlier statement.

And we should also take more care of not just press the quote button when we want to reply to something someone has stated.
Mostly all the time it´s unneccesary, because it´s not the whole text (that then will be posted one more time in the new post) that you want to comment on, it´s normally only a few lines. Make a little effort and separate and erase the lines that are not needed for your comments in your qoute (exception is of course the matter when it´s needed!).

I don´t know if Luke have been succesfull in adding bandwith or not, but remember that all such things as I have described here, take bandwith - especially if a quote also include a picture. And not long ago (late last year if I rememeber correctly) - this was a big issue here on the forum!

I hope noone take this personal, because remember that it´s all the time hard to get some critic - especially from someone that you don´t know in person, but I mean all this in a good way - I hope you all will not get absolutly crazy and mad on me now.

Do it for this site - not for me!

(This text I have already posted in another thread, but I put it here also, because the other thread belongs to the International section, and all on this forum  maybe not read the posts there!)
