WDW this summer?
Well, my years at a community college are finally coming to an end, and to mark the occasion, I was wanting to go to Florida, including a trip, of course, to WDW, among many other things (including to visit with my aunt and uncle who live in Tampa). Unfortunately, however, there is also the issue of the weather down there. I know only too well that it gets ridiculously hot down there in the summer: muggy, stormy and just plain blistering! That's why mom was thinking of going instead during the fall, when it won't be quite as hot. What can I do?

That's just it, they were never the same. Like last year, for example, we went to San Diego and then Disneyland, though not on the same trip. And the year before that, we went to Canada and then Disneyland, though again not on the same trip. The year before that one, we did no trips at all, mainly due to my sister's wedding taking up a lot of financial resources. But I digress.Escapay wrote:Whatever you did in previous summers where you didn't go to Walt Disney World.BDF wrote:But what can I do in the summer?

And besides, I want the end-of-community-college-start-of-university occasion to be really something special. I thought I would be able to kill two birds with one stone: go someplace I enjoy and go someplace I hadn't been in a while.

If you don't go to WDW this summer, then just do whatever you want to do in the summer and not include WDW in those plans.
We should make a list:PanfanDan wrote:There are hundreds of things you can do, and probably thousands if you live in California. I'm sure you can find something fun to do in the summer.
1001 Fun Things To Do In California In The Good Ole Summertime:
1. Stalk a celebrity and buy them coffee.
2. Go to Monterey Bay Aquarium since it was where they shot the scenes at the fictional "Cetacean Institute" in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
3. Go to Griffith Observatory and geek out at the fact that it was the setting for several notable movies such as Rebel without a Cause and The Rocketeer.

If you have the choice between summer and fall, I'd choose fall- the summer is hot and pretty busy. It's still hot in early September, but whether starts cooling a little by October. I'm not sure if you're going to take time off of school in the fall, so if you can't go during the fall due to school, then just bring your shorts and sunscreen and come in the summer...

Well, if it were up to me, I'd just brave the heat and go in the summer, too. But my parents are in this, too.blackcauldron85 wrote:If you have the choice between summer and fall, I'd choose fall- the summer is hot and pretty busy. However, I'm considering taking a semester off from school this fall, so...

Thanks, guys, but if I'm going to be going to WDW, I'm going to need to save up money. It's not cheap, you know.Escapay wrote:I dunno. I'll just continue the list...Panfan wrote:...So what is the point of this thread?

You don't have to do everything on the list, you know.
Here, I'll add a few cheap things too...

9. Spend all day in bed and don't get out unless you're using the bathroom, getting food, or taking a shower.
10. Walk around the house and do 20 jumping jacks in each room.
11. Have a movie marathon at home with your DVDs.
12. Raid the kitchen cabinets and create a strange dinner concoction from the various food you find.
13. Then apologize to your parents for the mess and the waste of food.
14. Walk outside to get the mail.
15. Venture further if you're willing...and go across the street!

My responses are in bold.Escapay wrote:You don't have to do everything on the list, you know.
Here, I'll add a few cheap things too...
1001 Fun Things To Do In California In The Good Ole Summertime:
1. Stalk a celebrity and buy them coffee. That is if they don't punch you first, or call their security people.
3. Go to Griffith Observatory and geek out at the fact that it was the setting for several notable movies such as Rebel without a Cause and The Rocketeer. The Rocketeer? Do they give you a jet pack and a piece of gum to try it out, with explicit instructions to KEEP THE GUM ON?
4. Visit Grauman's Chinese Theatre and try to steal John Wayne's footprince a la Lucy & Ethel. I'd steal someone elses, or just reenact a scene from Blazing Saddles.
5. Start a petition to get Corbin Bleu a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. (this is for Ames!) My Petition will be for Roddy McDowall of course, even if he isn't alive.
6. Two words: Fisherman's Wharf. Two Words: What? Oh wait that's one.
7. Go to Napa Valley and do some wine tasting. And remember not to swallow the wine a la Peter Griffin.
8. Go to the Disneyland and adopt yourself into a visiting family.Or just go to Disneyland and lave the parenting for later.
9. Spend all day in bed and don't get out unless you're using the bathroom, getting food, or taking a shower. Now that's not really all in bed is it? If you don't want to leave bed, I suggest you just take a bed pan or chamber pot with you and possibly a rag on a stick to wash yourself with.
10. Walk around the house and do 20 jumping jacks in each room. You call that a workout? Try doing that coupled with 20 additional pushups, chinups and some brief weightlifting. That'll burn those calories!
11. Have a movie marathon at home with your DVDs.I do that everyday, how is that Summer Special? Oh right this is for BDF.
12. Raid the kitchen cabinets and create a strange dinner concoction from the various food you find.Sounds....like a not good idea.
13. Then apologize to your parents for the mess and the waste of food.If you're still able to speak or move depending upon what you made.
14. Walk outside to get the mail.Get a mailbox instead, it's so much simpler.
15. Venture further if you're willing...and go across the street!GASP! That's CRAZY talk Scaps! Do you know what could happen if you CROSSED the street? You could be panhandled by monkeys on unicycles or pestered by parrots with parasols or find me yelling at you with all these crazy ideas spewing from my mouth while you try and fail at comprehending what I'm saying or....
