I sent away for mine back in December of 2002 and they sent my money back. I don't get why they had to make them limited!

They made a box, as in like a DVD box set, to hold Beauty and the Beast Platinum Edition and it's two sequels. You may have noticed a little Roman Numeral "I" on the spine of your B&TB DVD. The sequels came with these as well, and if you get all of them, they will fit into this box so you have a nice box set. The problem was that they only made 5000 of them so they were a little hard to get.

Thank you Maerj, that was explained beautifully. Now the next question is, how did one go about getting it? Was it an insert that came with one of the sequels? I checked my B&B Platinum DVD for info on the inserts, but didn't see anything.

The offer was available in a couple of different places. I saw one in the Disney Club newsletter, but I think some folks saw them in VHS or DVDs as well. Many people ordered it, few actually got it. 5,000 to be exact!

Hi! I did manage to pick up a box for the DVDs. There was a slip in i think B&B III. I mailed it in the day I bought the DVD, and it took several months, but I did finally receive it. The bad news for me is that I took the slip cover off, and now I know I misplaced it! Oh well, the box will work just fine! At least I keep telling myself that.

I *wondered* why that roman numeral was on the spine! Thanks for solving the mystery. :P

Figures they'd design the DVD art for the original GREAT movie to go with the 2 CRAPPY sequels. Like it's a "trilogy" and you *need* to buy them all ...pffft.

And making a limited edition box to hold them all in... oooh boy. Another way to ensure they sell more of their crappy sequels.

LOL, not really, with only 5000 boxes it didn't help them sell that many more copies.

I know for a fact that it came in the BatB VHS rerelease and the DVD of The Enchanted Christmas.

Aaahh...but did consumers know in advance exactly how many boxes would be available? :) I'm sure more than 5000 sent away for it but didn't get it. And if all those people had to buy the sequels in order to get the coupon/order-form-thingy to send in to then get the box, well ...it's possible that people who might've been on the fence about buying the sequels, caved and bought them just for the order-form inside that they needed in order to try to get the Extra Special Limited Edition Box to hold their BATB dvds. Y'see? :)

I mean I wouldn't buy something I don't really want, just to get a "rare" box to put 'em in. But there are lots of crazy-obsessive collectors out there. And I think Disney(Eisner) knows it and will take the "suckers" for all they're worth.

In any case it stinks that they put that roman numeral on the spine. It interferes with the design and just screams "well of COURSE you're going to buy 2 and 3, aren't you? You'd BETTER! 'Cause this is number 1, of a series, and it's gonna look awfully silly by itself on the shelf!"

The presumption and pushiness of the thing just...bugs me.

Though it's kind of funny that it never occurred to me why the roman numeral 1 was there... goes to show how much I think of the BATB sequels. I try not to think of them at all actually. And I guess for awhile there, I succeeded!

Yes, that's right. Becasue Walt never used cross-promotion marketing techniques did he? He was above all that, just like he was apparently above everything else people claim Eisner is guilty of.

It's not as if his Disneyland weekly TV series was just used to promote his theme park or his latest movies? It's not as if the theme park attracted vistors by including characters and rides from his films either is it? And his constant "advertorials" on Disneyland never caused complaints about unfair competition from other studios and television stations did they?

Disney did nothing wrong by offering the box. It was a bonus for people who did want to buy all three products. Nobody forced anybody to buy anything. If I was being cynical about it, I would say the real reason was to avoid making a boxset for retail which would sell as a knockdown price compared to three individual releases.

I got the slipcase, and the insert came in my BatB VHS. Unfortunately, it was before I got the DVD, so I'm stuck with a VHS box.

Plus, I don't have the SE's of Enchanted Christmas or Belle's Magical World, so I have to use the Original Christmas and Belle's Tales of Friendship (which seems to have been excluded from the "series")

This "Belle's Talles Of Friendship" has never been released here in Brazil. Is it as bad as it seems?

Worse! I bought it because I thought I was getting the box for it and there was a coupon on the "Tuck Everlasting" DVD which I was buying the same day. I have never been able to watch it all. Maybe it's just the first story, but it's so bad I have to shut it off. You are not missing out on anything. This is one of the worst DTV sequels.

I've never actually seen it, but I don't think it's really horrible. I'm expecting a TV show like quality.

Plus, Belle's Tales of Friendship wasn't unbearable, and Magical World is all-new footage.
