Wallace & Gromit: 20th Anniversary Collection
I was looking at some DVDs on DVDaf.com when I noticed that 20th AEs of the 3 original Wallace and Gromit shorts. This should be very interesting. No extras have been announced yet. What will they have? Extras old and new? Correct speed (the last 2 releases were somewhat slow. Somethin' to do with certain fps.)? HIT and Lionsgate only know. I'm loking foward for these releases. DVDaf has the cover art, but amazon has better pictures:

These 3 DVDs will be released on Febuary 10th, 2009.

Odd since they JUST got another DVD last year....
I may check them out but then again I may not. Right now I already have the WB DVD that they called 'The Incredible Adventures of...' and have been planing on getting the newest DVD in the Shaun the Sheep V1 two-pack, anyway.
We will have to see if it's worth it but right now the big question is when is the 'A Matter of Loaf and Death' R1 DVD coming?

As much as I love Wallace & Gromit, I've already got the WB/BBC release (for the extras) and the DreamWorks release (for "Crackin' Contraptions").
I'll wait for a release that brings together the three shorts with "A Matter of Loaf and Death".
And I'm still waiting for "Shaun the Sheep: Seasons 1 & 2"...

20th Anniversary. Ouch, I feel old. Remember watching the original one in Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Animation Festival with the origianal Beavis and Butthead(Frog Baseball) among others. Where did all that time go.

[quote=""blu-ray.com""] Our favorite English clay-made inventor/cheese connoisseur and his very resourceful pet dog are stop-motioning their way onto BD. Hit Entertainment, which specializes in TV products for children, is entering the Blu-ray arena with the release of 'Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Collection' on September 22.
The disc will include all four Wallace and Gromit shorts: "A Grand Day Out", "The Wrong Trousers", "A Close Shave" and "A Matter of Loaf and Death". There is no information on technical specifications or special features at this time.
The original aspect ratio of the first three shorts is 1.33:1, whereas "A Matter of Loaf and Death" is 1.78:1. Hopefully Hit Entertainment will respect the respective original aspect ratios, unlike what they did with the Wallace and Gromit spinoff 'Shaun the Sheep', which is cropped to 1.33:1 in the US DVDs.
It might be noted that this is not really a complete collection, as it lacks the only feature film starring these two characters: 'Wallace and Gromit in: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit'. However, the rights for that movie belong to Dreamworks Animation. Similarly, no mention is made of the "Cracking Contraptions" webshorts.

You can torrent it if you want, Sky. It's quite good and probably my second favourite W&G short ("A Close Shave" is my favourite).JiminyCrick91 wrote:I can't wait to finally see A Matter of Loaf and Death! I need a date ASAP!

I think I'll hold off on the Complete* Collection boxset and just get "A Matter of Loaf and Death" on its own, especially if the other three shorts don't add anything new (bonus features wise) that's not already on the previous DVD releases (2000, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009). And given that "The Wrong Trousers" has had the different music since 2001's BBC/Warner release.

*except for The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and any new shorts that may be made before Peter Sallis dies (I don't want to be the morbid one, but the guy is 88 and Nick Park said they'll retire W&G after his death since no one else can play Wallace)

I'd love to get the complete collection on blu-ray (just for the anti-scratch stuff they put on the discs) but if the shorts are going to be 4:3, that won't work on a blu-ray....at least for me. When they put 4:3 on blu-ray, it's in a little box in the middle of the screen in a 16:9 frame. That just looks silly. That's why I watch the dvd version that came with the blu-ray of Pinocchio. I don't have a widescreen tv, so boxed 4:3 on a 4:3 tv just doesn't work.
Think about this. Once bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread.

Yeha, I know.... I watched the opening seconds online but it just did not feel right. I must watch it on DVD or TV. Thanks anyway.Escapay wrote:You can torrent it if you want, Sky. Well that settles it, I'll be skipping out on the collection set and just get "A Matter of Loaf and Death" on its own.
I wonder if the commentaries for the three shorts are newly recorded (since it only credits Nick Park) or simply misinformation and will be the commentaries that were already made with Park and several other members of the W&G team.

It's either that or vertical cropping.Spottedfeather wrote:When they put 4:3 on blu-ray, it's in a little box in the middle of the screen in a 16:9 frame.
Not on a 16:9 television.Spottedfeather wrote:That just looks silly.
Because Blu-Ray players are supposed to be connected to a 16:9 television.Spottedfeather wrote:I don't have a widescreen tv, so boxed 4:3 on a 4:3 tv just doesn't work.
