Ultimate Disney Forum 2008 Secret Santa - WISH LIST Thread

Post by Luke »

Twenty-nine forum members are participating in this year's Secret Santa. All random assignments have been made and you should be finding out who you will be buying presents for within the next few days.

This thread is designed to help the forum member who will be getting you a present to know your interests and of some specific items you might like to receive. If you have a list of DVDs or CDs you own, you may want to post a link to that so your Secret Santa can consider getting you something you don't have that they think you'd like. If you're in Europe and prefer to have Region 2 DVDs, make that clear and perhaps post links to some e-tailers you recommend for ease and English-friendliness. Or you could even just say a little bit about yourself (your age, hobbies or favorites) that could spark some gift ideas. Someone has expressed interest in making a shirt, so if that's something you'd like be sure to include your shirt size.

Post as many or few items as you'd like. Remember that the recommended amount to spend on this is $20, and while there's freedom to go a little over that if you can/want to, you may very well just be getting one thing - be it a DVD, book, CD, or something else.

If you have any additional questions that you think might apply to everyone, feel free to post them here. And remember once you have your assigned recipient to keep that a secret. Until you send out your gift, at which point you should make it clear who you are (forum name too). Thanks to all who are participating - let's make this lots of fun!

Updated my post. 8)

Books

1) Jerry Beck's Animated Movie Guide
2) Any book you feel can better my knowledge of animation

Animation/Disney books I already own:

1) A-Z Disney Encyclopedia (Dave Smith)
2) The Little Big Book of Disney
3) Disney - The Ultimate Visual Guide
4) The Disney Poster Book

DVDs or BDs

Anything that's not in this collection that you think I'm mad to not have: http://julian-carter.dvdaf.com/

If you're a millionaire, perhaps you could snag me a copy of Mickey Mouse in Black and White Vol. 1 or a Looney Tunes Golden Collection set (I've never collected those). :P Are there any cartoon collections or animated films you think I should really have?

I'm cool with any region of DVD, PAL, NTSC, you name it ... as long as the presentation is in the original aspect ratio. For BDs (I don't have a player yet) the region should be B (I think ...).

This is what I wrote earlier:
Well ... (provided I've been accepted to take part)

I like people to send me gifts that they think I'll like. Perhaps something they think I need. I don't really want to spoon-feed my Secret Santa on what to get me - let them use their brains. I'll give a hint though. I really want to know more about animation, be it history, technique, etc.

Think Jerry Beck's Animated Movie Guide *hint hint* or similar stuff.

Books I already own: A-Z Disney Encyclopedia, Disney - The Ultimate Visual Guide, The Disney Poster Book, The Little Big Book of Disney.

That good enough? :)

EDIT:

Ok. I'm also a collector of vinyl LPs, so if there are any in your attic you don't want just mail 'em to me. :P

I also accept working Commodore 64 computers. :P :P

Or PSone games!

Okay I really only want a few things. The two items that top the list are generally easy to find:

Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume 2
Disney: A to Z Encyclopedia by Dave Smith
Walt Disney Animation Studios: The Archive Series: Story

Other items I would like:

Mouse Under Glass book
Beauty and the Beast: Platinum Edition (Only if you have an extra copy)
Fantasia Anthology Set (Only if you have an extra copy)
Pocahontas: 2 Disc Anniversiary Edition
Tarzan: Collector's Editon (See BatB and FAS)
The Emperor's New Groove: Collector's Edition (See BatB and FAS)

I think the first two items are generally very easy to find, so I don't think there should be much of a problem in getting them. :P

Oh, and for merchandise, I love anything Harry Potter, Twilight (Not clothing/bags, as...well it would be uncool for a guy, haha. And I have the Movie Companion book, and the Film Fantasy magazine.)

(As far as t-shirt size, I'm a Juniors Small, in case you're my Secret Santa...)

If you want to get something that I have on a list, my list is below. Or, I collect stuffed animals. Or if you see something Corbin Bleu-related that's not a CD or DVD (like his HSM doll or a calendar or something), that'd be cool, too! Or you can just send me something that you think I'll like!

Disney DVDs
Camp Rock
The Cheetah Girls
The Cheetah Girls 2
The Cheetah Girls: One World
College Road Trip
101 Dalmatians (1996 live-action)
102 Dalmatians

Non-Disney DVDs
Pearl Harbor (the 2-disc set, not the 4-disc Director's Cut! I can't handle the extra added violence!!!)

Books
"Shopgirl" by Steve Martin
"The Dive From Clausen's Pier" by Ann Packer
any Nicholas Sparks novel that isn't "A Walk To Remember"
"The Disney That Never Was" by Charles Solomon
"Disney Lost and Found" by Charles Solomon
"Walt Disney Animation Studios: The Archive Series: Story"

CDs
any Disney Broadway CD
Taylor Swift- "Fearless"
"All Wrapped Up" (a Disney pop Christmas CD at Target, featuring Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and Demi Lovato)

Oh, and please and thank you, Secret Santa! :)

I never received an e-mail from you, so unfortunately you are not among this year's 29 participants. I should have checked the sign-up thread when I was finalizing the list and doing assignments. But I'm thinking you didn't follow the directions and e-mail with your information. Because I got e-mails from everyone else who posted to say that they were signing up. At this point, it's too late to do anything, but I'll be happy to keep you as a reserve, should we need one.

Here's my DVD/Blu-Ray wishlist:

http://aiwkid.dvdaf.com/wish-list/already-released

I ask, though, that you don't get me any new release titles from November and December since I've asked for those from family members.

Books:
The Annotated Brothers Grimm by Maria Tatar
The Annotated Classic Fairy Tales by Maria Tatar
Disney A to Z: The Official Encyclopedia by Dave Smith
The Disney Treasures by Robert Tieman
The Disney Keepsakes by Robert Tieman
The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne
Imaginary Friends by Darren Pillsbury
The Golden Compass: 10th Anniversary Edition by Phillip Pullman
The Subtle Knife: 10th Anniversary Edition by Phillip Pullman
The Amber Spyglass: 10th Anniversary Edition by Phillip Pullman
Stardust by Neil Gaiman
Stardust: The Visual Companion by Stephen Jones
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Jesus at the Movies: A Guide to the First Hundred Years by W. Barnes Tatum
The Book of God: The Bible as a Novel by Walter Wangerin

In case you need just a little bit of help spending money you don't know what to do with:
Peter Pan Snowglobe
Alice in Wonderland Snowglobe Bookends
Alice in Wonderland Wall Clock
Mad Tea Party Giclée
Time Turner
Nintendo DS Lite (Red)
Nintendo Wii

The list of ridiculously expensive items is more of a joke/helpful list for myself, so don't sweat it. As for shirt sizes, I'm a men's large. If you want to surprise me with something I haven't specifically requested, merchandise from Alice in Wonderland, Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, or the Wizard of Oz will do just fine. I'm honestly easy to please and will be happy with whatever you get me (unless it's underwear).
Thanks in advance, and merry Christmas! :santa:

Being from Europe it's gonna be a bit complicated with me if my Secret Santa lives in the States.
I'd advise you however to order something from amazon.co.uk (England) or the German amazon.de (that site is in German only) to cut shipping cost, since shipping from the US to Germany is not that cheap.
I guess the best way to go is amazon.co.uk since shipping cost is not that much and the site is in English.

I am just gonna post all my 3 wishlists on the three different amazons which include lots of different things, so you should be able to find something.

Dottie's amazon.com listhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishl ... listpop_wi

Dottie's amazon.co.uk wish listhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/wis ... _gno_wl_hp

Dottie's amazon.de wish listhttp://www.amazon.de/gp/registry/wishlist/WYGPUGZG29FK

Or a copy of Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas on DVD would be nice.

Other things I love are stuffed animals in all shapes and sizes, Disney Princess stuff and other nice and pink things.
If somebody wants to get me a shirt usually I am a women's small, 5'5' and about 127 pounds.

I am so happy I get to participate this year and thank you soooo much for thinking about a gift for me, Secret Santa! I can't wait to see who you are.

Dear Secret Santa,
I have been a very good boy this year. I hope that you will get me something very special and I want to thank you in advance for whatever it is. I know how hard it can be during the holidays and can appreciate the thought and time it takes to do this. Honestly, I'll be happy with ANYTHING but in case you want to know what kind of things I like, here is a list of things I keep looking up and oogling on the net:

Disney DVDs:
The Strongest Man in the World
Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco
Muppet Treasure Island
Squanto A Warrior’s Tale

Non-Disney Programs That Aired on The Disney Channel:
Eerie Indiana, the Complete Television Series <- I really want this one!!!!
The Kids of DeGrassi Street, the Complete Series
Sherlock Holmes: Hands of a Murderer
The Anderson Tapes (with Sean Connery and Dyan Cannon)
Robin and Marian (with Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn)
White Wolves
White Wolves II: Legend of the Wild
Danny Kaye’s Pinocchio

Frank Capra Films:
State of the Union
Platinum Blonde
Harry Langdon…the Forgotten Clown

General DVDs:
Arthur C. Clarke’s Mysterious World (available only on PAL DVD format)

Books:
The Disney Live-Action Productions by John G. West
The Wonderful World of Disney Animals by William R. Koehler
Clinical Dermatology: A Color Guide to Diagnosis and Therapy by Thomas P. Habif
Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care by Walter Greene

CDs:
Magic Kingdom Event Party Music (it has all the music from Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and other seasonal events)

Ultimate Christmas Wish:
Faerie Tale Theatre Complete Series DVD set

Also, in case you were the clothier wondering about shirt sizes..... I'm a small or medium tailored male.

Thanks again, in advance, for whatever your generous spirits sends. If there is anything Disney that has strong meaning for you (a favorite movie, etc.) feel free to send it instead of something on the list. I love sharing/making Disney memories with people.

Merry Christmas Santa! :santa:

Graciously,

Hi, everyone out there in Internet-land!

I'd like to start off with some basics: I am 18 years old, a lifelong Florida resident who'd rather be up in Boston, and I love movies and music. I have a deep-seated love for any and all things classic rock, my three favorite bands being The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and The Doors. Any kind of merchandising from these three bands would rock my world - CD's, vinyl records, tshirts (My shirt size is a 3X, btw.... Kind of a big guy :P ), books, concert DVD's, etc. So if you'd like a specific field of gift ideas that could allow you to get creative, that would be it. :)

On the more detailed side of things, here is a list of things that I've had my eye on. I just started filling it out and it's nothing but Blu-ray's, so I promise to have a fuller, more selective (and cheaper) list by Saturday the 22nd. I found a couple of Blu-ray's that I've wanted for a long time and are at a pretty good price, so I listed those as 'highest priority'. :)

All in all, I hope everyone can have a great time getting to better know one another and can remember the true meaning behind the holidays: <strike>Getting greedy as hell, asking for everything you set your eyes upon and buying the cheapest gift you can find</strike> The gift of giving. :D

Things I would love to receive from my Secret Santa:

Disney Movies:

Atlantis: the Lost Empire: 2-Disc Collector's Edition
Ducktales: Volume 1
Ducktales: Volume 2
Ducktales: Volume 3
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Ducktales: The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp

Non-Disney Movies:

The Sound of Music: 40th Anniversary Special Edition

Disney Store Plush:
Dumbo
Bolt

Books:

Quidditch through the Ages
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Graphic Novels:

From Hell
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Volume One)
The Killing Joke

Other Stuff:
Hot Topic sells an awesome Darkwing Duck Beanie cap that I wouldn't mind having.

Or if you wanted to go all out and buy me something I've wanted for ever and regret not buying when I had the chance and costs more than 20 bucks you could follow this link:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/RARE-Disney-Oversize ... otohosting

I really don't expect you to, but it was worth a shot. If nobody bids before closing date I'll probably splurge for it myself.

Pretty much any other Scrooge Merchandise works too. I don't have anything but his biography anymore (stupid movers) and I love him. Just don't buy me pins. I hate pins.

I'll probably update this later but this is what I can think of right now.

Oh and the t-shirt size is a men's XL or 2X depending on the maker. To be safe go with the 2X. And just to let you know I'm allergic to a lot of different material. Wool and Nylon especially. If your going to buy or make me something that will be in constant contact with my skin please do your best to keep it 100% cotton. I don't like rashes too much :( :P

Thanks in Advance to my Secret Santa, whomever you are! :D

Dear Secret Santa :

I would love this :

<a href="http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee23 ... SS500_.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee23 ... SS500_.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Otherwise :

-Any nice snowglobe or figurine from the Disney Store would be lovely or anything between those lines. (I like anthing related to the villains or TNBC obviously, my least favourite characters are anything Mickey Mouse, Pooh, Disney Channel, or Pixar related, there you go I said it ! :P )

I'm trying to collect Jim Shore- Disney figurines,
I already own The Evil Queen and Captain Hook.
This is one of them :
<a href="http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee23 ... ucifer.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee23 ... ucifer.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

UPDATE :

I already bought the Lucifer, Maleficint, and Siamese Cats figures.

I don't think so. I think you have to look out for PAL/NTSC video though.

At least, I know I play US PSone and PS2 discs on my PAL console just fine. :|
