Here is a list of DACs that have upcoming anniversaries (I left some titles out). I wonder if Disney will take advantage of these anniversaries for a new release (maybe Blu-ray!!!!!).
DUMBO - 2011 will be it's 70th anniversary
FUN & FANCY FREE - 2012 will be it's 65th anniversary
THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD - 2009 will be it's 60th anniversary (somehow I doubt this will be released for awhile, even with the upcoming anniversary.)
THE RESCUERS - 2012 will be it's 35th anniversary
THE BLACK CAULDRON - 2010 will be it's 25th anniversary
THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE - 2011 will be it's 25th anniversary
THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER - 2010 will be it's 20th anniversary
THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME - 2011 will be it's 15th anniversary
HERCULES - 2012 will be it's 15th anniversary
LILO & STITCH - 2012 will be it's 10th anniversary
Hopefully Disney will take advantage of these upcoming anniversaries and release 2-disc DVDs and BLU-RAYS!!!

Walmart: the perfect place to shop for a headache at a discount price.
They usually release between 4 and 6 Animated Classics a year (at least that has been the pattern the past couple of years.)
2006
DUMBO
LADY AND THE TRAMP
ROBIN HOOD
THE FOX AND THE HOUND
THE LITTLE MERMAID
2007
PETER PAN
THE JUNGLE BOOK
THE MANY ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH
MEET THE ROBINSONS
2008
SALUDOS AMIGOS
THE THREE CABALLEROS
SLEEPING BEAUTY
101 DALMATIANS
THE SWORD IN THE STONE
THE ARISTOCATS
Maybe they will do another 2 film pack with FUN AND FANCY FREE/THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD.
I think 2009 or 2010 will be the year we FINALLY see HERCULES make it's return to DVD and possibly Bluray. It hasn't been released since 2000, and while still in print. It is pretty rare for them to go more than 10 years between releases.
That goes for THE BLACK CAULDRON also, most likely in 2010 for it's 25th Anniversary and THE RESCUER'S DOWN UNDER in 2010 for it's 20th.
That being said... I think 2009 will play out like this.
2009
SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS
PINOCCHIO
OLIVER AND COMPANY
BOLT
THE RESCUER'S
2010
FANTASIA
FANTASIA 2000
HERCULES (similar to Mulan as an Olympic's marketed release.)
THE BLACK CAULDRON - 25th
THE RESCUER'S DOWN UNDER - 20th
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Sometime between 2009-2010 I think we will also see
FUN AND FANCY FREE
THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD
MAKE MINE MUSIC
MELODY TIME
Knowing Disney though, they will probably keep holding off the titles that haven't been updated in nearly a decade to bring us a special one disc edition of BROTHER BEAR and CHICKEN LITTLE: The 5th Anniversary Edition.
All that being said... If we take a look thru which titles are not in the Platinum collection and have not yet been announced, and then only look at the titles that have been at least 5 years since their last edition.
That leaves us with...
MAKE MINE MUSIC
FUN AND FANCY FREE
MELODY TIME
THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD
THE RESCUER'S
THE BLACK CAULDRON
THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE
THE RESCUER'S DOWN UNDER
THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME
HERCULES
ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE
LILO AND STITCH
TREASURE PLANET
BROTHER BEAR
HOME ON THE RANGE
(I left MULAN out because even though it's last printing was 2004, it was just re-released as a box set, so it is HIGHLY unlikely that they would re-release yet again so soon.)
They should easily be able to make proper editions for those titles in that list that have not yet been treated to a proper DVD release over the next 2-3 years.

I hope they DON'T release anymore of those 2 movie packs like Saludos and Caballeros. I refuse to buy those. IMO, DACs should be treated with seperate releases. It's just tacky to do that.

If Disney really wants to start pushing Blu Ray they are going to need to start putting more titles out at a faster pace in the same way they did with DVD. I expect this push to start no latter than 2010.
The one big problem with that is that the whole point to Blu-Ray is to improve picture and sound quality which means Disney is going to have to start putting more effort in to their less popular titles if they ever want to start releasing them on Blu-Ray cause nobody is going to upgrade something like "Robin Hood" if the picture quality is the same as the DVD.
That means that the push should start with more popular films made more recently that require less work to but out on Blu-Ray.
I'd bet titles like Hunchback, Hercules, Mulan, Pocahontas, Lilo & Stitch, Brother Bear, Tarzan and The Emperor's New Groove are the most likely candidates to launch a major Blu-Ray push, mixed in of course with the odd older title that always sells well (Dumbo, The Rescuers, Alice in Wonderland).
Anniversary's could mean new DVDs but I doubt they will mean new Blu-Ray releases quite yet (as evidenced with Mary Poppins).
At this point even though I have a Blu Ray player (in my laptop) I have no interest in picking up any films on Blu Ray yet because I can't watch them on my tv. But a Blu-Ray push will probably mean upgraded DVDs too, so I'm pulling for ones and if they wanna celebrate anniversaries at the same time I'm cool with that.

It would be great if they addressed those movies still stuck in the "Gold Collection" which would be:
Make Mine Music
Fun and Fancy Free
Melody Time
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
The Black Cauldron
The Rescuers Down Under
Hercules
These are all good movies. I don't know why they aren't getting much attention by Disney. Black Cauldron may be one that Disney wasn't too fond of, however it has earned a bit of a cult following since its release. It's in need of a restoration and woul be great to see a new edition of it released.
Oddly enough, they are still releasing Gold Collection movies to store shelves. A good example is Pocahontas II, all they did was re-release it in Gold Collection but with the DMR logo on it.
There's still some live-action movies in the Gold Collection line too, like Pete's Dragon.

To me, it'd make sense to rerelease the 25th animated classic for its 25th anniversary...
I wonder...if Disney did make a nice documentary about The Black Cauldron (which I don't even know if they'd do), would they include all the information about the production? Like, would they mentioned how Katzenberg butchered the film? Would they mention the hologram effects that were thought of? Would they mention how the film was the most expensive DAC at the time? Or would the documentary be a fluff piece? I really want them to do the film justice, but, out of all the DACs, I can see them not doing TBC justice in terms of potential bonus features.
