New Peanuts Holiday Collection

Post by Gurgi30 »

I'm looking at picking up the new Peanuts Holiday Collection this week as I don't have any of them on DVD but I wanted to see if anybody has it yet or had a chance to watch it. Are they the same DVD's as the ones that just came out? Is there any differences? Is there any reason I'd want the individual discs over this set? Thank you for the help.

It's been exactly a month to the date since we brought you Warner's press release for It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: Remastered Deluxe Edition, coming to DVD on September 2nd. At the time we reported (per Warner) that the bonus episode, "It's Magic, Charlie Brown," while it wasn't mentioned in the press release, would indeed be included on this disc. We've now gotten in a look at the back of the box, and it confirms that this extra is indeed on board:

and it will have a new featurette called: We Need a Blockbuster, Charlie Brown!

Thanks DisneyBoy.

Now does anyone know if any Target has this? I went to the one in Owatonna but they didn't have it. I'd go to the one in Rochester but I don't want to go if they won't have it.

Well...I got an idea...why don't you call Rochester and ask for electronics...:P

Or order online...saves gas and money... :P

I just got the Great Pumpkin today, however my Target didn't have the holiday collection anywhere either. Maybe they're delayed in getting it, or optioned to wait until October 7 to release them all separately to stores along with You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown.

I think CostCo has the collection for around $30. The only difference from what I've heard is the collection does not have slipcovers for the individual cases, and you get the cd with the collection.

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping to eventually find it at Target since I have gift cards that I can use there to greatly reduce the price. I guess I need to keep looking as neither of the Targets around me have it.

Great review, Luke. I'm glad to hear that the Christmas featurette is honest and frank about how it was made, those kind of things were really only hinted at in the 2001 featurette, and looked back on almost as if it were a fond memory rather than a serious issue. I wish the 2001 featurette was included though, perhaps Warner didn't have the rights to it (or chose to simply replace it with the new one).

I only have the Christmas DVD, so I'll likely get this boxset (or I could win it in the drawing, we'll wait and see...). And I actually may have use for the sampler CD as I still have yet to get the regular one!

I should probably buy the Peanuts Holiday Specials on DVD in one edition or another, because I don't own any of them on official DVDs, just DVD-Rs of It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! and the Christmas special I taped off of ABC last year...
