Beauty and the Beast Comics

Post by pap64 »

As a kid I used to collect A LOT of Disney related comics. The school supply I used to go would bring tons of new comics each week. One of the comics the store brought one day was "Beauty and the Beast", clearly based on the movie.

I think I only had two of them.

The stories were mainly events that happened way before Belle met Beast, and I thought they were cool.

My memory is pretty poor, but I remember some of the events.

One story had Belle as a young girl working with her father. Maurice gets a pig and teaches it to hunt down something (I don't recall exactly what it was). At first the pig and Belle didn't get along but are good friends by the end of the story. And coolest of all, for a brief moment the Beast (as a human) and Belle cross paths.

Another story dealt with Chip. Beast gets upset over something so he goes out for a walk. The servants notice that he's been gone for a while now, so Chip sneaks out and tries to find him. While searching he almost falls through a nearby cliff. He notices that at the bottom there was someone. It was the Beast!

So he goes back to the castle to get help.

Near the end, Beast gets mad and accidentally tosses Chip into the air. While Airborne Chip tells him how he was the one that rescued him. So Beast catches him, tells him thanks and the story ends with Beast and Chip sleeping in front of the castle while one petal of the enchanted rose falls.

Afterwards there weren't anymore BatB issues.

Did these exist in the US? They were in Spanish, but many of the Mickey Comics we got were from the US so I assume that the BatB comics were released in the US as well.

If anyone has scans and pictures of the comics I will be very grateful.

I think those are the Marvel comics,I read them online in a website called Tale As Old As Time (Don't they know that this song is called Beauty And The Beast?).
Anyway they also had comics with Beast handling his life after he turned into a Beast and Belle has a little girl.

How's the Little Mermaid comics?.
It's funny what they did to the Bimbettes .
I also read all of the Aladdin ones but I thought they were really, they were a little better then the Aladdin series but still,I hate how Aladdin and Jasmine were always fighting there like 6 years old about "Male/female is better",they sounds like a 6 years old brother and sisters, not a couple who's getting merried.

I don't really remember. I was in maybe 6th grade or younger when I read those. I remember it being similar to the TV series though. :)

Oh,from the cover and scan of a few issues I saw it is similar to the series, they even used characters from the series (Like Pearl,Urchin,Sharkanians,Spot and etc.),I think they should have made it more original, the Beauty And The Beast and Aladdin comics didn't had anything to do with the Aladdin series or sequels and Beauty And Beast II and Belle's Magical World.
I think Pocahontas also had comics, anyone knows something about them? they take place before she met John Smith?.

Sorry for not replying earlier but thanks a lot for the link, mooky!

I am reading through the issues are they are quite charming! "A chance for romance" was very cute.

They are missing the two issues that I owned, though. But still, its great that someone remembered to upload the comics :) .
