MARY POPPINS & ALICE IN WONDERLAND SPECIAL EDIT FOR UK

Post by davmaso »

Spoke to Disney UK, who have confirmed that Mary Poppins is to be re-released in December as a two disc special edition with bonus footage.
Alice In Wonderland is also getting a makeover but won't be released until Jan 05. Fantasia & Fantasia 2000 to be deleted at the end of the month, so get it while you can. They have no plans to re-release it either, within the next three years. Little Mermaid 2 will also be deleted at the end of January. Though they said that Sleeping Beauty will not be deleted until December 04. Hope this bit of new helps you all.

Odd, the single disc Alice is out of print over here, but we have to wait until next year, while it looks like Pocahontas will get a 2 disc set released sooner... despite it having a supplement packed single disc still in print.

Well done Disney UK!

Still, it would be nice - if for a change - the international versions of Alice had a commentary track recorded for them. Or if we got the BBC Radio show that was on the LD. After all, we are British!

James that is such a great idea! Please get a job at Disney!

Jan 2005 is a whole year away! We better get some other great DVD's this year to make up for it (Mulan and/or Make Mine Music preferably).

I wonder if we'll see Alice a little earlier know that Pocahontas has been pushed back in the states. I'm not fussed which of the two we get this year but we better get one!

Well it seems to be a fair trade off. We get Alice this January instead of next, and you get Pocahontas this year instead of next. Although honestly between the two I'd rather have Pocahontas. Still, why not release both in the same year worldwide? Sheesh.

it looks like there might be trouble with the pocahontas special edition. i wrote to disney asking for info and i got the reply this morning saying. that there is no pocahontas special edition and there are no plans to release one!

if this is the case, then why have all the bonus features been classified by the bbfc?

They did the same to me with Sleeping Beauty - all the additional 2 disc supplements (and a widescreen version of the film) were classified, but they denied any intention of releasing a 2 disc set like on the Continent, so I bought the French set.

Then they released the 2 disc set in the UK 10 months later (with no publicity I must point out)
