I actually toyed with that idea for awhile, but somehow it didn't fit. I think Batman fits Tarzan's personality more than Spider-Man: both are orphaned boys struggling to find their place in the world that fears them and both carry this immense sorrow within them. That's why I opted against "Tarzan as Spider-Man".
I did that for others, too, so I'll explain how I decided on which Disney character should be a DC/Marvel superhero.
-
Superman & Lois Lane - I found both the characters and the plot of "Hercules" to be very similar to "Superman: The Movie": a child of god-like strength is found by a nice old couple who decide to raise him as their own child and he grows up to be a person of high moral standards and the protector of innocent. And of course, there's also a comical villain

.
-
Supergirl - I needed someone blonde, tall and nice. Aurora fits the description, though I could have used Cinderella instead. Maybe I'll draw Cinderella as Black Canary

.
-
Robin - at first, I thought of Robin Hood as Robin but then I remembered I needed someone young and energetic so I used Peter instead
-
Catwoman - Jasmine, like Catwoman, is the epitome of sex-appeal to me. Plus, she has a tiger and Catwoman has a soft spot for tigers. And of course, there's the infamous "pussycat" line
-
Wonder Woman - someone tall and amazonian was needed to fit the role of Wonder Woman. Maybe I should have used Pocahontas instead of Esmeralda
-
Aquaman - Sea King. No need for explanation

(besides, both Triton and Aquaman have similar color schemes)
-
Green Lantern - Tinker Bell has a green dress and she glows
-
Green Arrow - a skilled archer and has similar color scheme to Disney's Robin Hood
-
Cyclops & Jean Grey - I chose Ariel and Eric for Cyclops and Jean based on appearance only. And because they're a couple
-
Storm - Kida's dark-skinned and has white hair. She also has that royal presence, like Storm.
-
Wolverine - Stitch is rough on the outside but has a soft spot for those in need.
-
Beast - who else could have I used
-
Rogue - Rogue is often described as southern
belle. She's also a brunette and often wears yellow
-
Gambit - has that street-rat type of attitude
-
Psylocke - Mulan is skillful warrior and she's Asian
