I recently bought Sky High, and I watched again today, so it is fresh in my mind. I saw one of the Sidekicks TPBs at a comic store, but it may not be the new one with both stories in it, so I may skip on buying it. If nothing else, I will order it from my library.http://www.onipress.com/display.php?type=bk&id=137 (with a 5-page preview)
I'm not saying "DISNEY STOLE THIS MOVIE!!" like some people might, but I definitely noticed some similarities.
I haven't read Sidekicks since 2004, and I haven't seen Sky High since November of 2005, so I can't really recall specifics...
Once I pick up the Sky High DVD, I will watch it, and read the Sidekicks book.
The Sidekicks character didn't know what her power was, and they had a testing facility at the school (similar to the gym in Sky High.) I can't recall if a car was dropped on her or not, although her powers were revealed when the training robots malfunctioned and couldn't be shut off... She was super-strong and invulnerable, I believe.
Of course, the plot was completely different, in fact, I'm not even sure if a real villain was used in the Sidekicks comic. However, the premises of the comics and movie are very similar.
For what it's worth, I enjoy both the Sky High movie, and the Sidekicks comics.
