Ollie Johnston, 1912-2008
Haven't seen the news posted anywhere except on Jim Hill Media, but Ollie Johnston passed away today at the age of 95.

This is certainly sad news, especially considering he was the last remaining member of the Nine Old Men. At least he lived a full life. I think I'll be going through my Walt-era animated classics each day in remembrance of him and the other eight. I think now's a good a time as any for me to order the Frank & Ollie DVD, too.

Thanks for the Characters and Memories Ollie.
I would order the DVD Frank and Ollie but I'm Broke until May 2nd... I think I will buy it next month in May in honor of Ollie.....
Also I wonder if Luke will put this sad news on the front page of UD in like an honor to Ollie or review the Frank and Ollie DVD in memory of them...(if it has not been already reviewed)

Cartoon Brew has a whole bunch of useful links and info. A whole lot better than Jim Hill shouting from his soapbox with no relevant info.

Magical fairies, delightful dogs, bumbling stepsisters and so much more... Ollie thank you so much. Wow I can't believe how sad this makes me. He and the rest of the nine old men created some of the most vivid memories that have enchanted my mind since childhood. I have loved Disney all my life and will love it forever more. I thank Ollie for all the magic and animating some of my favourite Disney characters of all time.
Rest in peace. You will be missed by many.

OH CRAP!
I'm sorry for that rather unorthodox way of starting my post, but my first thought was 'Ollie aswell!?'.
This is depressing and sad. The only times I've seen the man in motion is perhaps through the occasional DVD bonus feature, but he struck me a very charming, along with Frank Thomas. Rest in Peace Ollie!
I was secretly hoping that one day I might get to meet him before he dies. I knew it was a very unrealistic dream. How on earth was I supposed to get to the US, track him down and talk with him? Nevertheless, I still feel sad that that's now impossible and that now we've lost all of the Nine Old Men.

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone.

Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone.
