Did ANYONE Ever Receive a Beauty and the Beast 3-DVD Case?

Post by The Lizard King »

I sent in my $1.99 and filled-out form last November 2002. The check had never been cashed until last week when lo and behold there it was -- CASHED in May 2003. I called up BVHE (1-800-723-4763) and they told me that I had to call the following long-distance number, 1-763-479-4179, in Maple Plain, MN. They had a voice mail answering service on the other end, so I dutifully told my story to the machine. I haven't heard back from them yet. I don't know if I will.

My question remains for this forum:

Did ANYONE Ever Receive a Beauty and the Beast 3-DVD Case? :(

Nope, no case. However, they were ever so nice to return my 1.99. I called to complain and the very kind lady on the other end assured me my 1.99 would be coming back to me. I then very kindly informed her that I did not want my 1.99-I wanted my Beauty and the Beast case!!! She apologized and then told me that they didn't make nearly enough to meet demand. I told her that I hoped if they decided to to anything like that again, (say for the Lion King), then would the Disney Company please think ahead and perhaps order more? I was very disappointed in not getting the special case.

Thanks for bracing me, Leesa. I won't be expecting good news when and/or if Disney ever calls me back.

Leesa, did you call the same long-distance phone number in Minnesota that I had to call to get your $1.99 back?

No, I first called the 800 number listed on the DVD cases and they gave me the toll number to call, but the next day the refund check arrived so I never had to go that far.

I think the whole thing was a disappoint for quite a few people. The Disney person I spoke with assumed I was more upset over not getting the 1.99 refund than I was not getting the case. Apparently, she doesn't know how sincere we Disney DVD collectors can be!!

This is what I found out Long ago back in January. Disney put coupons to get the case in VHS versions of Beauty & Beast Platinum and then in the DVD of Enchanted Christmas. So all of us DVD fans, did not even know about this until after THOUSANDS of VHS had been bought. So none of the DVD purchasers of Enchanted Christmas were likely going to get a case. And also members of the Disney Club also got first dibs on these Limited cases.

So basiclly all of us got screwed....but at least some of us got the 1.99 back....even if it was 6 months later. :x All I have to say is I am NOT happy at how Disney did this promotion. GRRR! :x :x

I've been reading the messages in these forums for quite some time, but this subject convinced me to finally register, because the way this free case offer seems to have been handled is very, very annoying.

I will not be receiving a case either, nor will my friend, who also sent in for the free case. For months we kept asking each other, "Have you gotten your case yet?", and "I wonder how they'll ship it so it isn't crushed in the mail." After a time, we both figured it wasn't coming and that we just lost $1.99--no big deal. They did send us both a check for the $1.99, but we both only really wanted the cases after all.

I have also been checking eBay to see if anybody was selling the case with no luck. This seems very odd to me; usually whenever there is a free item of any kind there are usually postings from people that take advantage of the scarcity of these items to make a "killing". I may have just missed the listings, but I am beginning to wonder how many cases (if any) were produced.

:?: Did anyone receive more than one coupon? My friend got two (but only sent in one). Did you need a receipt or anything to get the case? If no receipt was needed, maybe others that got extra coupons got extra cases? Just a thought.

I had purchased just about all the Disney animated movies on VHS and have been slowly purchasing them on DVD (those with features and formats that I like); I'm sure many of you are doing the same. I hope this is not how they plan on running any premiums in the future. I understand that they maybe scarce, but come on! It's not like it's a free movie, it's just a case you're giving away. To treat their loyal customers like this is unacceptable. :x

Thanks for letting me rant and rave about this, it's something that has been bothering me.

Just got my $1.99 back in the mail yesterday with some note stating that the demand far outweighed the supply and that they were sorry, blah, blah, blah. Oh, well... Now, what can I buy for $1.99?

Hey now, TLK, don't laugh! You can get a lot for $1.99, especially if you use 10-10-2020 for long distance calls. Or you could use 1-800-COLLECT and save a buck or two.

I'm beginning to wonder if anyone got the special Beauty and the Beast case. I sent out the coupon the day after I picked up Beauty and the Beast. And although it did take them 6 months to send me a rebate check back for the $1.99, I wonder why it took them that long to realize they didn't have enough (there were only like 1000 cases to begin with I think is what the voucher said)... or maybe there never was a case out to begin with and it was part of some sick conspiracy to play on our emotions to see how many people would send them a check for $1.99.

Very clever disney is.

Returned Check!

Post by goofystitch »

I Was angry when my chck was returned. I had bought a case and extra disc for Jurassic Park and they didn't put a stupid limit on it. I don't get why Disney wouldn't just make a bunch of them. They would make lots more money seeing as most peoples checks were returned.
