I am VERY excited!!! I just love the 2-disc sets. I wonder if any stores are going to have promotions or deals with this DVD. So far, Disney hasn't done much to advertise this re-release. Has someone seen a commercial or something else i may have missed?

To say I'm excited would be an understatement. :D I've been waiting for this release ever since I first saw what Disney could accomplish with their 2-Discs (Tarzan was my first 2-Disc DVD). Now after nearly 4 years it's finally come. :D

I haven't seen any advertisement for this whatsoever. DVDEmpire has a few banners for it spread out here and there, but that's all I've seen. What bugs me is the previews for Alice on DVD's like Nemo cram it with Poca and Lilo, causing people to think all 3 will be released at once. Disney should've given Alice its own DVD spot rather than making it part of one big "2004 2-Disc" spot. Considering Disney likes to promote their new releases through Wonderful World of Disney, I wonder if they'll figure a way to promote Alice one night. What worries me is the factor of what if Alice doesn't sell well due to:

1. Practically no ad campaign
2. Promoting kiddie features on sites like Amazon, causing adults to think that these may be the only features
3. The chance that they might show the actual film on Wonderful World of Disney and cause soccer moms to tape it and not think they need the DVD

If Alice doesn't sell well, would this affect the future of the Masterpiece Editions much like what happened to the Vault Disney titles...?

Relax, guys. The DVD doesn't street until the end of the month. My guess is that a week or so before street date we'll see something (and they've got to promote the Disappearing Classics first for obvious reasons anyway.) Plus, the spot on Nemo will do A LOT to help.

And yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I've NEVER owned Alice in Wonderland in any form so it'll be big for me to finally get it.

I can not wait for this!!!!! This and Pocahontas, I have never owned Pocahontas, and only saw it once in the theatres back in '95, I have seen bit's and a pieces on 2 occassions, but can't wait to own the dvd! I have Alice GC, but I will definately be upgrading for this!!!

As for the advertising, it will probably be similair to that of Sleeping Beauty, in that they will wait until a week, or maybe 2 ahead of time, before they start showing the commercials all over tv...

Only 4 more weeks!

When will we get the SE release of POCAHONTAS and LILO AND STITCH and MARY POPPINS? I thougth they´d be all together in January. Now I am lost.

Oh, dammit Quasi, that's the hardest question I've ever been asked. I'm going to be up till three in the morning trying to figure out the answer to that question! Maybe I could look at the upcoming releases page on this very site, linked at the very top of this forum, but no, why would it show up there? That page only lists 69 measley new releases from January 2004 through 2005/2006, there's no chance information about those three perticular releases will be there.

So how about checking the animated classics list for the Pocahontas and Lilo & Stitch information and the old live action page for Mary Poppins? But no, they're very frequently updated, so there's probably not any information there, it's probably just got information about the old single-disc versions, right? It figures.

Or, this is a good idea. How about checking the animated classics countdown? Since Lilo & Stitch made the top 20, maybe we could find the release date for the 2-disc DVD on the page for the writeups about that movie, you think? No, that page probably has the coments about it and nothing else, there's no reason for that information to be there, is there??

Or wait, no, I'm not done yet, we haven't found the info yet -- come to think of it, there's a whole page about the 2004 special editions here at Ultimate Disney. I don't suppose that special page has the release dates? No...Luke probably didn't bother to say when those would come out, he just came up with a quick summary of possible bonus features and got it done as quickly as he possibly could rather than spending a lot of time and effort on it. Doesn't that seem more likely?

Darn, Quasi, I'm going to be exausted by the time I find this information! There's such a useful and informative website here and I have no idea how to find the release dates you need! Argh! :?

Alice in wonderland is not one of my favorite Disney film.
I think it's not that bad as the media says it is.
I have the Gold Collection and will keep it.
I also have it on VHS and will keep that one to.
I wonder why didn't Disney make Tarzan or Mulan Masterpiece Edition first.

I can't wait when it comes out on January 27. :D

I'm super excited. I've been putting off buying the Gold Collection disc for years in hopes of a 2-Disc, and my waiting will finally be rewarded! :D

Of course, I'm more excited about UD's anniversary this month. :P

I'm very excited for this DVD! I had a chance to get it for free (okay, $1.99 b/c of shipping) from the Buy 3 Get 1 Free campaign with the Beauty and the Beast DVD (offer also included Pocahontas!) but I never was able to buy a third DVD to send for it. Then all of a sudden this wonderful fantastic site announces that Alice in Wonderland will be released on DVD last summer (or fall?) so of course I am very excited to get this DVD. And I'm also happy to see that "One Hour in Wonderland" will be included on the second disk! All the 1950's Disney animated Features are my favorites. Owning Alice and in a few years Cinderella would complete my collection (adding to Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, and Sleeping Beauty)! Three cheers for Alice!

p.s. Wasn't there already a Masterpiece Collection for VHS??

Not only am I NOT excited, I'm still not sure if I'll even be picking this one up. I've never really liked this one...kinda reminds me of some really twsited early Pink Floyd songs that make you feel like you're on drugs or something trying to follow them.

Then again, I absolutely love Pink Floyd (The Wall and just about everything afterwards) so maybe I can learn to love Alice, too ....

Already own it from the Gold Collection.

Extras are not going to make it worth it.

However, if I did not already own it I would buy it in a snap.

Fantastic movie.

Hey! I'm waiting to see if they do a little extra for the hedgehogs! I think it would be great to have some sort of special feature regarding the hedgehogs! After all, they are cute.... and they can roll into a ball....and well, you understand!
