Was Lucifer to die in Cinderella?
I was watching Cinderella the other day and never really noticed before but after Lucifer falls from the tower you never see him again. We all know he makes his appearance in the new sequels but was he originally intended to die? That was a pretty high tower…

He died for sure

That tower was high so i'm sure he did,i guess it's an error that he appears in the sequels, but as far as i know he wasn't in Twice Charmed.

I think that's a bit extreme; the Stepmother is far from "evil." She's the kind of nuisance that you find in your average neighborhood. Showing favorism and being greedy doesn't deserve death by any means. It's almost the same as saying, from Ariel's perspective, Triton deserves to die just because he didn't give her everything that she wanted.
Honestly, when I was younger, I assumed he lived. Like with the Stepmother, death doesn't equal comeuppance in this case.

Even if he didn't land on all fours, he still would have survived. Don't forget, he's a cat. And unless I'm mistaken, cats have nine lives.UmbrellaFish wrote:I always thought he lived. Lucifer is a very cartoony characters, so the laws of gravity don't mean much to him. Plus, Lucifer's a cat and he'll land on all fours.

You could argue about Disney Adventure's realiability on that one, but anyway, the part where Lucifer falls out the window is during the climax of the movie, which is centered around Cinderella and the mice. It wouldn't make sense to see Lucifer fall, walk up, and just go about his buisness.steven132 wrote:An article from Disney Adventures for Hunchback it shows all of the Disney Villains who have toppled to their "ends" and Lucifer is one of them along with Gaston, Scar, etc... I think if Lucifer did live they would have kept showing him until he landed and then walked away.

I don't see how exactly she could have died. Unless she suddenly jumped up once the slipper fit and shouted "I think I'm having a sudden cardiac arrest!" and fell over.Jack Skellington wrote:It would be really sad if he did.![]()
I think the Evil Stepmother should have died instead of him, there's a difference between being a pest and being pure evil.
Seriously, isn't it worse for her to live miserably? Being a villain doesn't always have to equal dying.

Still I always assumed he did die and was bothered by the fact he was in number 2 at first. I don't mind him though in number 3, especially when he became that creepy coachman.

Bringing the real world in here for a mo, shorter falls are actually more likely to kill cats because they don't have enough time to orientate themselves properly and slow the rate of their descent down. Anything over about seven stories the cat has a greater than average chance to live because it can spread itself out and literally try to glide itself to the ground.

Was Lucifer to Die in Cinderella?
I need you. I read a review that once said "the comeuppance of Cinderella's tormentors the real happily-ever-after of the piece", which I will look into when I re-watch the film, personally Cinderella's wedding felt pretty happy, too. So would you say the shock at Cinderella getting her happily-ever-after is the villain's comeuppance?Disney's Divinity wrote:Honestly, when I was younger, I assumed he lived. But I read countlessly that Walt Disney hated cats, and thought they were evil, and this makes me think Disney may have killed Lucifer. Also, more importantly, every villain who falls has died. It continued into Sleeping Beauty. Someone said it's supposed to represent the Fall from Grace or Lucifer falling from Heaven to become the Devil. OMG. Lucifer. Well, if that doesn't convince you...
I think the logic of cats landing on their feet or gliding to safety may not apply, because Disney doesn't always gets things right (or chooses to ignore things). It wouldn't make sense for the King to give the Grand Duke a knighthood because a duke is above a knight. Aurora and Phillip can't waltz because waltzes didn't exist in the renaissance.
HOWEVER...I'M personally going to believe Lucifer survived, because I like him. And we don't actually see him die. That's one great thing about Disney, you can interpret it in different ways and believe what you want...to extents. Perhaps it actually was left up to the audience to decide?!
