"The Suite Life on Deck" New Spin-Off of "The

Post by UmbrellaFish »

From TV.com
Disney spins off Suite Life of Zack & Cody by putting the twins on a luxury cruise liner in Suite Life on Deck.

Mischievous twins Zack and Cody are growing up and moving on. The Disney Channel today announced that The Suite Life of Zack & Cody will live on in a new show, but instead of being shacked up in a posh five-star hotel, they're causing mayhem on a luxury cruise liner.

The new show will be titled The Suite Life on Deck, and will be a spin-off of the original series. Identical twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse will return as Zack and Cody, who find themselves on the big boat after enrolling in a semester-at-sea program. Spoiled London Tipton (Brenda Song), the heiress to the Tipton empire, will also join the lads on the ship, as will hotel manager Mr. Moseby (Phill Lewis), who will be onboard to watch over all three kids.

This is good news for fans of the Disney hit, as the show was reportedly shelved after three seasons. Suite Life was one of the network's biggest original hits, and garnered an Emmy nomination for best children's program this year.

While the announcement is new, fans of the show have suspected that something was up at Disney for some time now. Cyber-sleuths with an affinity for all things Disney tracked down a series of Suite Life-related domain names registered by the House of Mouse back in October. Among them were several URLs featuring several variations on the new program's title.

Ashley Tisdale, who played Maddie Fitzpatrick in The Suite Life and Sharpay Evans in High School Musical, will not be in the new program.

Better than "Housebroken", but no Carrie? That's too bad. At least Brenda Song is back!

Can the show open with "ICE BURG, DEAD AHEAD SIR!" and then Mr. Lightholler can let Zack and Cody swim with the fishies instead of going in the life boats?

To be truthfull, I think Zack (is he Cole or Dylan?) is a better actor than Cody.

I'm glad Ashlee's gone. She got annoying in the recent episodes. I'll always love Brenda Song, though.

They said tha Maddie would not be returning not Carrie

But they didn't mention Carrie (the twins' Mom in the current show) if she will be in it or not... while they clearly said Ashley Tisdale aka Maddie would not return.. Probably to focus on High School Musical 3..... or IF disney Replaces Ashley Tisdale replace Mitchell Muso or add on Ashley Tisdale as Maddie Fitgerald on Hannah Montana... That might spice up the show of Hannah Montana (I Hope you reading Disney Channel

But I will watch this spin off....show as well... espcially since Mr. Moesby aka Phil Lewis is back..as well as the Sprouse twins... and Brenda Song as London....

I wonder if Estevan or the engineer... (Can't think of the characters name)would be back.... Perhaps the Actor of the Father of Zack and Cody will be in it

I guess in due time... Disney will tell more

disneynoy, I think you mean Esteban.

And this is actually old news. I've known about it since early fall, but at that time it was just a rumor going around.

I'm saddened by the fact that Ashley Tisdale won't be returning..she was my favorite.

I dunno why people were so hard on this show...I still think it's better and funnier than Cory in the House, Hannah Montana, and Wizards of Waverly Place combined. I mean, it seemed like a fresher show considering its characters and setting were outside the norm. This should be an interesting spinoff. Poor Moseby, I bet he doesnt know that he'll be crossing paths with the twins again

Engineer is Arwin.

The premise sounds like it can lend itself to great location shoots (or different sets beyond the hotel). Will likely tune in as much to it as I do to the hotel version.

I'm upset that Kim Rhodes' character is not even mentioned in the news article, which either means she'll be joining the cast too (without them mentioning it...after all, Carrie could become a cruise ship lounge singer!), or that she's making sporadic guest appearances, or that she's been axed as well, but gets no mention because her name isn't as big as Tisdale.

This makes the Another World fan in me extremely sad. Where am I gonna get my dose of Cindy Brooke Harrison? I feel especially close to her since she was born 16 years before me!

Great opportunity

Post by ckdish »

I think this is a good move. As Escapay said, the change of setting will benefit the show visually (at least it should, The Suite Life never showed any promise in that area) but a cruise ship setting will help the writers create significantly deeper plot lines. The possibilities and opportunities here are many and hopefully the central fact that the twins are on a cruise ship for study will add some much needed intelligence to the show.

i loved the first episodes of the series; every single character changed so much.

i liked Maddie the best since the begining, after a while she got too mean while London got too nice and stupid. Cole and Dylan need some acting lessons and teachers who forbid them from overacting, but hey, they're nowhere near as bad as Miss. Montana and company. i will give this show a try though; much better spin-off idea than Cory in The House (That's So Raven is my favorite show...how can it get that bad 4th season all the way through spin-off) and i'm glad they are keeping more characters than Cory in The House did, which i think is its most grave mistake.

God, will this ever end?!

The acting is horrible, the writing isn't all that great, either. There's about a single funny line in every three episodes. Also, will these boys ever mature? They sound almost the same as they did in Big Daddy, IMO.

Sorry to those who enjoy the show, it's just... I think that, at the moment, Disney Channel is a huge sell-out.

I remember I heard about this a few months ago, and thought it sounded so absurd it had to be a rumor. Why not just make a new show already?

so.. it's like a school.. on a cruise ship? what?
the idea of them living in a hotel is a much more original idea.
and i kind of think the ship thing will get boring after a while..
plus, why does moesby have to come along?
he's got like.. a hotel to run, right?
he has better things to do than watch three kids..
and i don't think it counts as a spinoff if like four or more of the original characters are in the new show, even if the scenery has changed.

i'm glad brenda song will be in it, her and ashley tisdale are virtually the only thing i like about the suite life.
i like moesby, carrie, and sometimes estaban and arwin.
all i hope is their annoying friends, like the damn redhead kid won't be in it, and they'll have some actually GOOD looking people on the show.
(brenda and ashley are very pretty, the adult actors aren't terrible to look at, but honestly.. any girl who thinks the sprouse twins are "hawt" is in desperate need of lasic..)

most likely, i'll watch the show, if just out of curiousity.

The episodes without Maddy have been missing something, in my opinion, so they will need to cast someone special to fill that aspect back in if I'm going to watch.

I came on here to post this news, and UmbrellaFish beat me to it! I'm so happy about the new show- I get sad when Disney cancels its shows! I actually missed the "Suite Life Goes Hollywood" episode(s), so I don't know how the show does/will do in another setting, but I'm really excited. Mr. Tipton probably just really trusts Mr. Moseby with London- the assistant manager can take over the Tipton for the semester!
Maybe Zack (who is Dylan Sprouse, by the way, UmbrellaFish) and Cody can talk to Carrie on the phone (so we might at least hear her if nothing else), and maybe even Maddie's voice will make an "appearance"...
I will miss Arwin & Esteban, though.

I'm very happy about this news, though! :)

Do you think the boys will still have their young voices on this show?

Recently, in the future, I'm hoping for Disney Channel to get back to its rightful place like it was way back when.

I enjoy the Suite Life. Yeah it can be corny, but I'm completely ok with that. Losing half the cast is losing half the fun, for me at least. Maddie and Arwin were two of my favorites on the show. That's a shame to hear.

Also, aren't semesters about 3 1/2 months long? So is this a one-season spin-off? Lame.

Disney Channel Sets Fall Berth For ‘Suite Life” Spinoff
Network Set To Go On ‘Deck’ With New Series Sept. 26
-- Multichannel News, 7/21/2008 1:42:00 PM
Disney Channel will spin The Suite Life of Zack & Cody to sea this fall.

The Suite Life on Deck is slated to bow Friday Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT), with stars Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song and Phill Lewis in tow. They will be joined by 15-year-old actress Debby Ryan, who will also be featured in a series of video blogs on the network, starting Aug. 29.

To watch an interview with cast members, click here:

http://www.multichannel.com/flashVideo/ ... 30316.html

The new series finds Zack (Dylan Sprouse) and Cody (Cole Sprouse) aboard the SS Tipton, a luxury passenger cruise liner owned by London's (Song) father. The ship cruises the world with tourists and students who attend classes at Seven Seas High, the one high school that London's dad thinks will make his daughter a better student. Despite being out to sea, Zack and Cody still have their compass pointed toward mischief, and London learns to live a "fabu-less" lifestyle, including sharing a small room with Bailey (Ryan), a country girl from Kansas. Lewis’ Mr. Moseby is also on board.
