Hurricane Floyd

Post by Trumpet Joe »

When Hurricane Floyd hit Orlando in 1999, all the WDW Parks were closed down, except Animal Kingdom. Does anyone know why AK was the only park that stayed open?

Possibly because cast members needed to be there for the animals and there are so many safe shelters. That park is so solid.

I remember someone "Asked Dave Smith" in Disney Magazine around the time after the hurricanes. I think it was the only one opened because it was new. I forget if that's the full reason. If I was at home, I'd look it up for you.
