The Jonas Brothers Discussion Thread

Post by blackcauldron85 »

I know that there are a few Jonas Brothers fans here on UD, so I figured that I'd make a discussion thread!

They're heading out for a new tour starting this month. Only the dates for the first leg of the tour have been released.

Here's the info for the first leg of the tour (copy/pasted from their Myspace page):

THE JONAS BROTHERS ARE COMING TO YOUR CITY!

Tickets go on sale THIS SATURDAY, JANUARY 12th!

The FIRST 20 ROWS go on sale exclusively at the venue Box Office this Saturday!

We did this to ensure that OUR FANS have a chance to get the BEST SEATS.

This is a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE opportunity.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, January 12th!

Below is a list of venues and on sale times.

January 31 Tucson, AZ - Tucson Convention Center Music Hall Theater (On Sale 10 am on January 12th)

You can also purchase your tickets online at www.livenation.com or through your local ticket outlets.

** There is a 4 seat maximum on the number of seats each person can purchase. **

** The first 20 rows will be given away through a wristband system on site at the box office **

I think that the first 20 rows thing is awesome- I'm glad they learned from the Miley Cyrus tour fiasco that the fans deserve a better system. I was all giddy when I saw that they had added dates to their website, but they haven't released any east coast dates yet... :( I totally will have to be camping out when they announce when tickets will go on sale for the next leg...I hope Bobby doesn't say no...he doesn't understand why I get all worked up about musical artists I like! But, I read when I initially tried to copy/paste dates from their website, that they won't necessarily be going in order...they'll give people wristbands with numbers on them, I guess, and they'll randomly select a number to start with. So, if they start with number 75, then all of those people will go before Person #1, so, even if Person #1 was waiting in line since midnight, he/she may not even get a ticket (they'll go back to #1, 2, 3, etc. after everyone else); what I read said that even if you have a wristband, you're not guaranteed to get any tickets, and that sucks. I love how they're doing the first 20 rows thing, but I think they should just start giving tickets with Person #1, and then to Person #2, etc.

I find this interesting...on their last solo tour (summer 2007), they played smaller venues (I saw them at the House of Blues). For this tour, they're playing slightly larger venues (I don't know if they're playing anywhere that's as large as where they've played on the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus tour, though). Have they gotten that much more popular since the summer? I'm proud of them for having the success they're having, but it surprises me that they're not playing smaller venues like they had been.

Sometime later this year (in the not-so-distant future), their TV show "J.O.N.A.S" will be premiering on Disney Channel, so I'm sure we'll all be talking about that when that show starts up.

Also, I know that they have started recording their next album on their tour bus. So that's more exciting news!

As much as I'm a fan of theirs and wish them continued success, I wonder when some of the Jonasmania will die down. Hanson was hugely popular back in 1997-1998, and then they lost a lot of that popularity. I think it's probably cooler for artists after the hysteria has died down- like at Hanson shows, the band knows that they're not playing to large crowds (not large like they once were), and that the fans that go to their shows are in for the long-haul, are the die-hard fans. I think that Jonas Brothers have been more backwards- they started with a smaller, supportive fanbase, and then, once Disney got a hold of them (which was awesome, since their old record label dropped them), they've become massively popular. I remember when I first heard "Mandy" (or saw, because I think it was on MTV), I liked it a lot, but I didn't rush out to get the album (I didn't even know that they had an album...I thought that it was just a random song that they had recorded, for some reason). I ended up getting their CD, "It's About Time" either at the end of 2006 or the beginning of 2007- still before they were massively popular. I didn't listen to that CD (which is awesome) on a regular basis until shortly before their latest CD (which is also awesome) came out.

I love all of their songs, but my least favorites are "Hollywood" followed by "Games". My favorites are "7:05", "Time For Me to Fly", and "Goodbye & Goodnight".

My favorite is Kevin...he's really sweet and I love his dances (like the "S.O.S. dance)...! He rarely sings solos, but on Youtube, I've found a couple instances where we can hear what he sounds like...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIN3PoohTYs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTtw3vul4f8
I think that he has a really nice voice, and I wish that he'd sing solo more often!!! On their next album, he should totally, if not have his own solo song, at least have one that he sings by himself for some of it.

So, what are your thoughts on the Jonas Brothers?

What's wrong with Tucson? (I'm genuinely asking, since you're from AZ.)

I was going to edit my previous post, but I'll just add my thought in a new post, since someone already posted another post. When I met them, I asked them about Hanson, and Joe said that they respect them (which is probably the nice way of saying "no"). On jonasbrothers.tv, there are some videos of a video chat that they did a few months ago, and someone asked them if they'd ever do a song with Hanson, and they said "back in their "MMMBop" days"; I just wish I knew how they felt about Hanson. For me, I'm big fans of both, but, in general, JB remind people of Hanson because they're 3 brothers in a band who play their own instruments and write their own songs and cause hysteria wherever they go. I just wonder what their true, uncensored feelings on Hanson are...

I've only heard the Jonas Brothers songs that have made it to radio or have been featured on various Disney compilations. Generally speaking, I actually like them, "S.O.S." in particular. I would say they've definitely gotten more famous in the last few months. They were one of the headliners of the New Year's Rockin' Eve ball drop and fact that they were launching their own tour made network news headlines. As Miley Cyrus' star rises, so does theirs. Those two acts, along with the High School Musical crowd, represent a new force in mainstream music. It's interesting to observe.

But while I like The Jonas Brothers, they really have no room to in any way disparage Hanson. :P

Well, they were on their own tour last year, too- so it's interesting how, in just a few months, them having a new solo tour is big news. The venues they'll be playing will be bigger, so that's news, I guess.

Hanson is my favorite band, so of course I like them better- I think that all around, Hanson is better. I guess, deep down, I want Jonas Brothers to give Hanson's music a chance, just like I'd want anyone to give their music a chance.

Ames, maybe The Jonas Brothers don't really "like" Hanson because they dislike being compared to them?

But anyway, I love Jonas Brothers! I have yet to buy "It's Only Time" (even though NONE of the songs are theirs...they're a British group's songs), but I did purchase their new self-titled album, plus many Disney compliations they were feautred on.

My favorite Jo-Bro member is probably Joe. Especially during the AMA performance when he fell on the glass and his hand got all bloody(which is SUPER ironic, because the lyrics to the song they were singing was,"It's Like I'm Walking on Broken Glass..") haha.) But yeah, he just got right back up and started belting out the song.

My favorite JB songs are:

SOS
Hold On
Year 3000
That's Just the Way We Roll

and their renditions of "I Wan'na Be Like You" and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" were also great. Though "Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirates Life For Me" left something to be desired. That's probably the only song by them I'm not too fond of. "Girl of My Dreams" was pretty good, too.

I would LOVE to see them in concert! Thanks for the tour dates, Amy! I wish they would come somewhere near PA, as that's were I live. But who knows, the East Side tour dates haven't been announced yet.

Something funny I just found out: It's About Time isn't offered for purchase on iTunes now, but it was in the summer.. :?

Actually, the only two songs on "It's About Time" that are by Busted are "That's What I Go To School For" and "Year 3000"- and some lyrics have been changed from Busted's versions to JB's versions.

"It's About Time" is available (or at least it used to be- I haven't checked lately) for download on Walmart.com.

I just found this out recently:

http://dailydish.tigerbeatmag.com/

"The new Jonas album will be released ON JULY 8th!!! As you know, the guys have been busy recording their new album on their tour bus during the “Best of Both Worlds” tour with Miley Cyrus. The JoBros are going to a studio in Los Angeles later this week to finish up the album before going back on their “Look Me In The Eyes” tour."

I'm on the fence, I don't like them enough to buy their cd's but I don't exactly hate them. To me, all of their songs just sound too similar with the way they sing it, the beat/music it really would be nice to hear something slower or not as fast paced for once (but that might just be me). I like their version of Yo Ho A Pirates Life For Me, their ubeat and fast style works well with the song, but I don't like their versions of Poor Unfortunate Souls and Wanna Be Like You just because they're still singing it fast paced with fast music when the tone is (or should be) a lot slower. I'm personally more fond of songs that have a beat and everything than ones that are slower, but with the Jonas brothers thats all they seem to offer so far.

*Note* I have only heard the songs mentioned above, as well as Kids of Future a while ago, so I could be wrong about them not having something slower I just haven't heard a large amount of their songs and am basing the above comments off of what I have heard :)

Shawn, they do have a few slower songs on their albums...they just haven't released any as singles. Their new tour is the Look Me in the Eyes Tour, so I'm hoping that song ("Look Me in the Eyes") will be released as a single- that's a ballad.

:( That sucks! Maybe they'll be in Colorado when you're there?!? This same thing happened to me twice- once when I was on vacation and Hanson came to Boston (and to PA where I was vacationing, but no one would take me), and in 2006 for the HSM tour... :(

able to go. and for the HSM tour they played in my hometown in Mexico
(which is like three hours away from where i live now) but it was the last
day of school so i had finals and no one to go with

but i'm still hoping i'll be able to go somewhere close to here (may be
austin, or dallas) after that, or who knows??? may be i'll be back by then.

In an article I read about the new reality show (I'm not sure what website it was on- my hubby showed me), it said that the show will be shown between TV shows, so each "episode" will be 5 minutes or so, I guess.

Edit:
http://dailydish.tigerbeatmag.com/

...the guys are going to have a REALITY SHOW! That’s right, episodes of Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream are scheduled to start airing this spring on Disney Channel. The show follows Nick, Joe, and Kevin onstage and off - that includes SKYDIVING, go-kart racing, and hanging out with their parents and adorable little bro Frankie - during their “Look Me In the Eyes” tour. I can’t wait! What does this mean for the J.O.N.A.S. series? It’s still going to happen as planned, although a release date hasn’t been set.

and

Exciting news, Wizards of Waverly Place AND Jonas Brothers fans! Mark your calendars because APRIL 6 is a huge day on Disney Channel. First up is a two-part episode of Wizards...Following the two-part Wizards episode, you’ll get to see the world premiere of the Camp Rock trailer.

Yeah, I hope so! I know, about Demi, I mean- that's great! I remember I was watching an episode of "As the Bell Rings" a couple months ago, and I had no idea that she sang, and she sang on the show, and I was very pleasantly surprised- from the little of her singing that I've heard, she has a great voice! I'm assuming that she is or will be on Hollywood Records, and, if so, chances will be that I'll buy her CD!

Yesterday it was announced that Camp Rock, will premiere on Disney Channel, the ABC Television Network, ABC Family, Radio Disney and Disney.com in Disney XD, FRIDAY, JUNE 20 through Monday, June 23 in the U.S. It will also premiere on Family Channel Canada and on Quebec’s VRAK.TV (dubbed in French) on Friday, June 20 and on Disney Channels around the world beginning in August.

As originally reported at Tommy2.Net the Camp Rock soundtrack will be released on June 17th and the DVD, with exclusive bonus features, will hit shelves on August 19th.

Yay for "Camp Rock" news! It's interesting that it will be on ABC and ABC Family during its premiere weekend- my guess is that on Friday it'll be on Disney Channel, then ABC the next night, and then ABC Family on the next night (or vice versa). I'm betting that "Camp Rock" will have the highest viewership rate out of the DCOMS yet.

My little sister and her friend saw the JB in Houston on Valentine's Day. She freaked because during a really quiet moment, she yelled something along the lines of "Kevin you're the coolest!" (she was pretty close to the stage) and he looked straight at her. She claims it was the greatest day of her 12 yr old life.
