It was on this date, December 21st, 1937, Walt Disney produced its very first animated feature film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and it was a masterpiece. It was premiered at the Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles. I'll give you a history of the film in Wikipedia.
Well if they had all we would have gotten is a 30 minute making of and a game....
I actually don't think Disney cares much about anniversary editions anymore. They missed Snow White's 60th, the missed the 10th on all their 90's films save Beauty and the Beast. (Lion King and Mermaid in the Anastasia crushing reissue were Early, Aladdin and Mermaid's DVD were late) I'm not sure about the rest. I think they played the anniversary card so much that it lost it's specialness because everything became an anniversary edition.
I agree they have used the "anniversary editions" way too much on almost all their titles, If this were a different company say WB or MGM, then anniversary editions would mean awhole lot more.
Happy Anniversary and thanks for being the reason that impressed me so in my childhood that I'm in this business (film historian & directing assistant) today.
To all the others MERRY CHRISTMAS, Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noël, Buon Natale & Fröhliche Weihnachten from Austria, Europe.
I am looking forward to the next re-release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs so much - it'll be great to see it in all it's beautiful transformed glory brought to life again by the wonders of modern digital remastering techniques!
To Make Doubly Sure Bring Back Her Heart In This!!
