Hey, this used to air on the Disney channel but I know it wasn't Disney made. However since it aired there I feel this is the right forum to ask. Does anyone remember a cel animated Nutcracker that was narrated by Han Conried? It not only aired a ton on Disney in the 80's but also HBO and Nickelodeon. It's not on his IMDB listing and I can't find anything about it online but I'm sure it exists. It may have been imported from Europe and if so the closest thing on IMDB I can find is one called Schelkunchik from1973. I've been trying to find out if it's on DVD or VHS anyplace but no luck. Are there any experts here who know?
There was also a cel animated Christmas cartoon I remember Disney would run in the 1980's about stars? It was something about a little guy and his christmas lights and he was on his roof with stars flying by. That's all I remember but a title would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

I did a little searching and found this library listing for a 1978 The Nutcracker narrated by Hans Conried: http://www.angoleiro.com/penn.cgi?i=3924
It looks like it is indeed the animated Russian version. Both come from the Soyuzmultfilm studio and both run around 26 minutes.
The Russian version is listed as 1973 and the English version is listed as 1978. Additionally, I don't see Hans Conreid credited for the 1973 Russian version. So it seems like it was probably released in Russia in '73 and then dubbed in English (featuring Hans Conreid as narrator) and re-released in 1978.
Here is a screencap from the short: http://www.animator.ru/db/?ver=eng&p=show_film&fid=2635
I can't find it on VHS or DVD anywhere, but it looks like the Russian version (no narration at all) is on YouTube. You can at least see if it looks familiar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zEmsK6Mu40
