What a lovely album. Sounds like FELT MOUNTAIN had sex with BLACK CHERRY. Where SUPERNATURE took it's inspiration from Glam Rock, this one takes it's inspiration from ethereal Folk Music.
Tracklist:
1."Clowns"
2."Little Bird"
3."Happiness"
4."Road To Somewhere"
5."Eat Yourself"
6."Some People"
7."A&E" [supposedly the first single]
8."Cologne Cerrone Houdini"
9."Caravan Girl"
10."Monster Love"
"Monster Love" is such a great song and "Little Bird" as well... "Clowns" put me to sleep. "Happiness" reminds me of something. Haven't heard the rest yet.
"A&E" is a very different song from Goldfrapp, brave if it actually is their first single. "Some People" is absolutely beautiful. :'( "Caravan Girl" is great too.
Oh right it comes out: Feburary 25 [UK] /26 [US], 2008

Goldfrapp ~ The Seventh Tree
Alice coming back with POWER! POWER!
Got a listen of the entire album (thanks to Napster)... I must say, I didn't know what to expect. But, I don't really like this new Goldfrapp. It's not only different from Supernature and Black Cherry, it's also an entire world away from Felt Mountain, which is a sound I can't say anyone would be disappointed for Goldfrapp to return to.
There's too much acoustic, which I just plain am not crazy about. This is as, in a way, disappointing a 3-year wait for Goldfrapp as the wait for Beck's Sea Change, only for that album to be practically unlistenable. Hopefully, Madonna's new one won't let me down.
Though, it should be said, that every single one of Goldfrapp's "new" stages were hard for me to like right away. Since I knew her from her Tricky days in the 1990's, the only album I took to like a fish to water was Black Cherry, which I ate up with a spoon (all the songs except "Train" and "Hairy Trees," which I now like).
The best songs on Seventh Tree are, in my opinion: "Happiness," "Cologne Cerrone Houdini," and "Caravan Girl." The rest of the songs just plain put me to sleep.
