Yes, I found those changes very distracting during my last WDW visit. I guess the costumes are technically an improvement, but, sentimentally, I miss the semi-creepy glowing faces.

Me, too. I think I've only seen Spectromagic once since the change, which is sad. But, as creepyish as the old faces were, they were cute!

I honestly prefer the original masks. The new "face character" spectromen just aren't weird enough, if you get what I mean. The spectromen before were definitely quite creepy looking, but I think that worked really well for the parade.

MASKS

Post by Prince Charming 12 »

Those old masks always reminded me of Casper the Friendly Ghost and never seemed to properly animate that character (Yeah, maybe I watched too many Saturday morning cartoons). From the picture, the new face character is an improvement but I will reserve further judgement until I view the parade in person and get a few pics of my own.

I will follow up on this post.

After viewing the parade in person, I do like the painted face character better than the mask version. It allows for facial expressions and eye contact with the parade watchers that was obviously lacking in those cartoonish style masks.

Overall, the attire and the painted face just match or flow better.
