This is great! Thanks PeterPanFan. One thing I am really happy about is that on Christmas Eve they are playing the claymation Christmas movies. That will really get me into the spirit because I remember watching it the last two years before the 25th.
I wonder why they are playing The Incredibles twice? It doesn't seem much of a Christmas movie to me.

Fair enough, but at the very least Harry Potter has Christmas scenes, and the other movies are playing on the countdown, not the 25 days themselves. Though why they chose to air "The Incredibles" on Christmas Day is anyone's guess.PeterPanfan wrote:Neither do the Harry Potters',Meet the Parents,Mary Poppins,or The Princess Diaries.

OMG! Great list! Heck, I'm surprised that "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" is on that list as well as the animated version of "The Cat and the Hat".
Sounds like this year's holiday season would be a blast.

You mean that they're going to air "Claymation Christmas" special? I'm shocked! It's been YEARS since I've seen it.magicalwands wrote:This is great! Thanks PeterPanFan. 12/9-Holiday in Handcuffs-New ABC Family Original Movie starring Melissa Joan Hart
Hmmm... This will be the first time I've seen Melissa Joan Hart in anything since Sabrina. I'm excited to watch this.
Anyone want to explain to me why there's no Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer coming on? They play all the sequels but never the orginal. Is the Lorax live-action? Hmm...
The Incredibles is probaly playing since it's a family movie. They don't just play holiday movies. They'll play classics and family movies all month long too.

I think it's because CBS owns the television rights to both this and the original Frosty the Snowman. I don't think I've never seen these two specials air outside of CBS, which would explain why only their sequels are aired on ABC Family.UmbrellaFish wrote:Anyone want to explain to me why there's no Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer coming on? I'm looking forward to this. The one thing that two of these LP's from that TV specials that are on ABC Family "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" and "Frosty's Winter Wonderland" are on the Disneyland label. I have both albums and it was from the Rankin/Bass TV specials. I will put these videos from these LP's very soon. which was not taken from these TV specials, it was from a record.

Well, if it's any comfort to you, they did show POTC: Curse of the Black Pearl on Christmas Day on ABC last year.SpringHeelJack wrote:Fair enough, but at the very least Harry Potter has Christmas scenes, and the other movies are playing on the countdown, not the 25 days themselves. I'm definitely excited for this. Did anyone else catch that they are playing the early 90s Disney Sunday Night movie with Olivia Newton John called:
"A Mom for Christmas"
It's not deep in the Disney vaults, but it is at least a start
I've totally set up my TiVo for that one. I highly recommend everyone who can to try and watch that one. It is an instant classic and everyone likes to hear Olivia singing.

I'm surprised Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone isn't scheduled to air during the 25 Days of Christmas ABC Family lineup, considering that out of the three HP movies that Disney has TV rights for, that movie strikes me more as the most Christmas-spirited one out of them all. Maybe they'll air it on the Disney channel or ABC.

Well, The Incredibles is focused around a family and Christmas is family time. I guess that fits.Big Disney Fan wrote:Well, if it's any comfort to you, they did show POTC: Curse of the Black Pearl on Christmas Day on ABC last year.SpringHeelJack wrote: Fair enough, but at the very least Harry Potter has Christmas scenes, and the other movies are playing on the countdown, not the 25 days themselves. Thanks so much for posting! I am sooo looking forward to this. I'm so glad that they're starting it a little early this year....the Christmas season is my favorite time of year but sometimes i have a little trouble getting in the spirit cause im just so busy...putting on my pjs and watching xmas movies definitely does the trick though!
I think the line up this year is great. some great classics (white christmas is one of my favs) mixed in with some newer xmas movies (polar express is a great one) and i definitely dont have a problem with them showing the incredibles...i love that movie! And i think magicalwands is right, The Incredibles is a movie that kids and adults like so its a good one to show on xmas day so the family can watch together...

ABC Family will premiere INCREDIBLES but Disney, who is the one who distributed the film, has not?
And Harry Potter isn't a christmas film either.
The Christmas List is one of my favorites and they're not even airing it on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

It is in our family!jediliz wrote:And Harry Potter isn't a christmas film either.

I'm a bit upset that they won't be airing Three Days, though. Thank god I have it on tape somewhere.
Question for anyone who knows the answer: Is Snow the Christmas movie with Tom Cavanaugh and Ashley Williams?

Every year, Harry spends Christmas in Hogwarts and most the movies feature a scene of Christmas in someway. But I don't count them as Christmas movies.
I think the choice of movies more reflect family. They hope the family will sit down together, spend time together, which is what Christmas is about. And be able to watch movies like those for free, is kinda ABC Family's gift to viewers
