I'm assuming this isn't an updated list. I heard on the radio that other shows won't be affected until the new year like Greys/House/CSI. If I find out more info, I'll keep you all posted!

If the strike continues for a long time, all shows will eventually be effected. Most of the network primetime shows won't be in trouble until February or March. Late-night shows are going into reruns immediately, soap operas will be around for about a month or so. Movies are pretty safe. Studios have enough in the pipe for a year or more.
This strike really doesn't bother me. It's not the end of the world if there is nothing new on TV or in the theatre. I'll read a book, go for a walk or watch a DVD.

As a student studying writing for screen and television at a liberal arts school, this has bunch of my friends and I yanking our collars and making unpleasant noises.

The only show I watch that was listed is Lost, and I'm betting they have quite a few more episodes than just the 8 they've already filmed written. I'm just hoping that by March (the time at which those 8 episodes will run out) this strike has been resolved.
I'm much more worried about the only other show I watch regularly; South Park. The episodes are produced within a week. Matt and Trey do most of the writing though and since they aren't part of the strike, I'm hoping they can pick up the slack from their co-writers who are, and they can finish the last two episodes of the season.
I support the writers 100% though. I mean without them there would be nothing for the actors to act or the directors to direct. They are the most important people when it comes to production but they sure as hell aren't treated like it.

Uh, if that were to happen, it will end badly...Replace them!!! The law allows for any economic striker to be replaced!!! Let them know who's in charge!!!
Essentially, any non-union writer who fills a gap left by a union member will basically be screwed when the issue inevitably is resolved, however long that may take. Plus replacing talent such as Greg Daniels, Silvio Horta, and Tina Fey would not be a smart decision.
...though admittedly if you replaced the writers of "American Dad", you may actually improve the quality of the show.[/quote]

More info about the writers strike and how it affects shows.

•Still running: Nightline (ABC); Tyra Banks (syndicated); Live With Regis & Kelly (syndicated); The View (ABC); Ellen (syndicated, DeGeneres did not show up for Monday's taping but is expected to return today); Charlie Rose (PBS); Oprah (syndicated).
•In repeats: Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC); Late Show with David Letterman (CBS); Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC); Late Night with Conan O'Brien (NBC); Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson (CBS); The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy); The Colbert Report (Comedy).
•Airing new episodes but no longer producing them: Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory and Rules of Engagement (CBS); Back to You , 'Til Death (Fox) and Desperate Housewives (ABC).
•Still airing and producing episodes: Fox's animated lineup (The Simpsons, Family Guy); most dramas, reality and game shows.
•Ended production: The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS)
Dramas and other comedies such as The Office continued to film Monday, though Office star Steve Carell didn't show up for work. But the pace will slow down quickly as the supply of scripts dwindles. Among other network shifts, NBC plans to yank Friday Night Lights and Las Vegas to conserve episodes.

Well this is just great. I hope networks choke on their own glut of reality shows.
Well, that's mean. But still, gotta side with the writers here. I can only hope this resolved soon. God forbid I have to, you know, go outside and play.

Personally, I don't care. I don't watch network television and haven't watched it for years. And it seems a lot of people don't have any sympathy for writers because they are not seen as "working class" but seen as part of the economically privileged, whether or not that is the case. However, I was talking to a co-worker today about this and her boyfriend works at Warner Bros. and she says that what is going to happen (if it hasn't already) is that all the other unions will go out in solidarity, so this could affect the studios' production of movies, if teamsters etc followed. I haven't researched this or followed the news too closely, so don't take this as more than idle gossip.
The issue is whether or not they get a percentage of the internet income, and if the actors are getting paid, then why shouldn't the writers? I can buy that argument. However, economically, if additional unions go out, or depending on how many people are in this union, it could affect the economy (at least here in LA area). Advertisers stop paying top dollar or stop advertising on the networks altogether, networks are then forced to lay people off because of declining revenues, the people who used to have those jobs, don't have any income - they can't buy food, gas, clothes, luxury items... store sales begin to sag, they lay people off, and so on. And all the people that are on strike will be on restricted incomes so already the strike is affecting what decisions they make in terms of buying or splurging on some item they wanted to purchase.
I don't think this will last long though - its bad publicity for the studios and networks.

I sure hope this doesn't last long. I would hate to have impatiently wait for new episodes of Desperate Housewives and Lost.

I agree with that LOL ... but the names are from an ad the "show runners" made in support of their writers ...
It pretty much says that when the writers stop ... we are going to stop too ...
