It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Tuesday, October 30 at 8/7c

In the 1966 half-hour animated special It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, The PEANUTS gang celebrates Halloween, with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party.

PEANUTS focuses on the anxieties and joys of childhood as expressed by an ensemble cast of children who often seem wise beyond their years. Among them are the lovable Charlie Brown, who perseveres despite continuous failure; the philosophical, blanket-carrying Linus; the fussbudget Lucy, who dispenses psychological advice for a nickel from behind a concession stand; and toy-piano virtuoso Schroeder. Central to the comic strip is Charlie Brown's dog, Snoopy, who first stood on his hind legs in 1958 and became extremely popular for his imaginative adventures as a number of characters.

sadly this is the ONLY animated classic special that is aired. I haven't seen the Garfield one on television for years. I've got Great Pumpkin on television right now. It says its on for an hour, so I wonder what the last half hour is for?
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

As you can tell now they are airing 'You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown' which has about two references to the Great Pumpkin.

I'm watching the VHS tomorrow.

By the way- anyone here remember the Disney Channel Halloween specials they used to air back in the late 80's / early 90's?? Didn't they used to have a lot of good stuff?

I recorded a Disney music video show ( a very long time ago) where they did clips from disney cartoons to songs like Monster Mash & Thriller. It was called something like Disney-DTV or something. They also did one for Valentine's Day.

yeah, I know. I have that Garfield DVD. I hadn't seen the Garfield Christmas Special in years when I bought it. And I had NEVER seen the Thanksgiving special, either. Two of my nieces & I watched the Halloween special like a month ago (Garfield).
