Will BVHE-UK release Cars on Blu-Ray on time?

Well, will they? It's supposed to be out in the UK on 8th October.

Well, I had a bit of extra-cash this week so I thought I would go in and pre-order Cars on BD and pay now.

Sadly, two shops I went to (the two out of three in my town which sell DVDs, Blockbusters and Woolworths) did not have the Blu-Ray release of Cars on their computer systems - even though it is meant to be out this coming Monday (about 5 days I think without counting on my fingers). Pathetic.

So I doubt this will be out on time. I doubt it will be out this year to be honest. It's probably been put back like the Pixar shorts collection was to tie-in with the UK Ratatouille release.

So I pre-ordered and paid for "Fantastic Four 2" instead.

I voted "No", because we know how Disney loves to push release dates back.

But, couldn't you order the "Cars" Blu-Ray from the U.S. when it comes out if the UK "Cars" is delayed? Because I thought someone on UD said that Blu-Ray doesn't have regions...?

Blu-Ray has regions, but they are optional.

It was supposed to have been released in Sweden last Wednesday, October 3. I pre-ordered it from Discshop, one of the largest Swedish mail-order outlets. When the time got closer, I watched its delivery status on-line like a hawk, expecting it to ship in the afternoon of October 2. But it didn't ship. Instead, the release date suddenly changed to November 14...

Same as Meet the Robinson's BD which was supposed to be a day-and-date with the UK DVD but moved to... November 14th!

Well, Amazon.co.uk lists Cars on Blu-Ray as "unavailable" - that explains why it wasn't on the Woolworths or Blockbusters computer system I guess.

Absolutely pathetic. Another promise broken by Buena Vista Home Entertainment UK.

Sort yourself out BVHEUK!

Amazon.de claims to have four copies of Meet the Robinsons (Triff die Robinsons) on Blu-ray in stock now. (But there's no cover image.)

So I just ordered it. Let's see if they will ship it tomorrow as promised...
Update: Apparently it shipped today, even ahead of their estimate!

I think it will also be labelled "Disney's 48th animated classic"

The Aussie edition is due out on January 18. We are the same region now, I guess (at least as far as Blu is concerned), so you could always import...

There is one thing Australians never do, and that is LIE. :)

That said, some of those Blus have already been pushed back once or twice. Not too bad though...
