No More Disney Adventures as of Nov. 2007
http://adage.com/mediaworks/article?art ... adventures
What a Shame.. I remember reading this magazine when I was younger... It will be a shame not to see it at the local grocery store... but I think the demise of this magazine sadly has been a long time coming.. .... Info Magazine such as Disney Adventures all the contents of that magazine can be found online a month before the Disney Adventures hits newstands making it cheaper just to look it up online....
According to the article... Disney Adventures Magazine has been around for 17 years...

I haven't read Disney Adventures for years but I loved it when I was younger and I have many shoeboxes full of old copies from the 90s. I might pull them out some time soon and relive the decade. I always enjoyed seeing new issues at the grocery store, simply as a reminder of the past, so it'll be sad not to see them anymore. It's also a shame that future generations won't have the magazine to grow up with. As disneyboy20022 said, however, the internet has undoubtedly hurt the magazine's sales.

I thought Nick Magazine got the ax ages ago, but maybe I made that up.
It's a shame. I loved DA as a kid. And I'm still bummed about the regular Disney magazine leaving me... grr.

I had a DA subscription for years growing up, and I even had one 2 years ago! I'm really surprised that it's stopping publication, what with the popularity of the Disney Channel. My biggest complaint with DA is that there's not enought DISNEY in the DISNEY ADVENTURES. They have Spider-Man and Shrek and Harry Potter...if they just left it having Disney material (with some celebrity interviews...I sure did like the Hanson issue years ago), then I think that it'd be better.
But, it's sad to see it go.
Good times.

Like most people here, I was a big fan of the magazine as a kid. I collected virtually every issue from July 1993 to about 1999 or so. Once the new millenium rolled in, I started buying it more and more infrequently because (just like the Disney Channel), the magazine started moving away from its namesake and became generic.
I remember every time a new animated classic came out, a special issue was released devoted almost ENTIRELY to that film. They had interviews with the cast and filmmakers, articles on the history of the production and source material, pics of concept art, a comic adaptation of the film, a personality quiz, and ads for all of the merchandise out. Hercules was the last Disney movie to really get this treatment. Mulan and Tarzan had special issues, but they weren't up to the standards of the others and were plagued by non-movie-related content. After Tarzan, Disney Adventures didn't bother with the special issues anymore. Disney's own movies were relegated to three-to-four-page blips.
A part of me wants to be sad that the magazine's stopping, but considering how downhill it's gotten, I'm not really feeling anything. I may check out the last issue for closure's sake, though. Funny how it'll arrive around the time of my 21st birthday, kind of the end of an era, I guess.
