Grey's Anatomy: Season 4 Discussion

Post by MadonnasManOne »

The new season begins on Thursday, September 27th! Season 3 is coming to DVD on Tuesday, September 11th.

Official ABC Website:

UltimateDisney.com Season 3 Discussion thread:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am excited to see where the fourth season of Grey's Anatomy will take us. We have two cast members gone from Season 4, Kate Walsh and Isaiah Washington. It will be interesting to see how the show plays without them. We have new additions, including the character of Lexie Grey, played by Chyler Leigh.

Shonda Rhimes, series creator, stated in the blog, Grey Matters, that Season 3 was about burning everything down. The finale certainly did that. It will be interesting to see what happens after the fire. Derek and Meredith are "over....so over." Preston left Cristina. Izzie still loves George. Callie wants to have a family. George did not pass his exams. Callie is Chief Resident. That's just a few things we have to look forward to in the new season!

This is the place to discuss! Remember, spoilers are possible.

I saw the McPreview for the 4th season yesterday, and there is a hilarious moment for Cristina when she meets her own new innterns and there is a lot of Lexie in the preview.
I don't know if it has surfaced on youtube yet, but it's good.
And Ausiello has had a lot of scoop too over the last few weeks.

Aaaahh, excitement!!!

Edward Herrmann (Grandpa Gilmore) will be guest-starring in Season 4, probably for a whole story-arc!!
He will be playing "the world's oldest intern". (Spoilerfix and askAusiello)
I think this is great news. I loved him on Gilmore Girls and the role seems to be promising. I am glad Grey's will be lighter again as Shonda Rhimes has promised. Season 3 certainly wasn't as bad as many say, but not as good as Season 2, so the fun will be back!!

Here's some 4th Season news from TVGuide.com's Fall Preview-Returning Shows guide.

http://www.tvguide.com/special/fallprev ... ing3a.aspx

Premiere: Thursday, September 27, 9 pm, ABC
Where we left off: Addison (Kate Walsh) left Seattle Grace, Cristina (Sandra Oh) lost her eyebrows and Burke (Isaiah Washington), and McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) had a Dreamgirls moment, telling Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) he's not leaving. Meanwhile, George (T.R. Knight), who cheated on wife Callie (Sarah Ramirez) with best friend Izzie (Katherine Heigl), didn't pass his boards and has to repeat his intern year. And Alex (Justin Chambers) realized he had feelings for Ava (Elizabeth Reaser), the pregnant woman he rescued from the ferry crash.
What's next: "I like the fact that the season begins with everyone being a little bit single," says Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes. Meredith and Derek's "emotional impasse" is going to resolve itself in a "very surprising way in the first episode," Rhimes promises. Though Callie will have her worst fears confirmed, Izzie won't be able to quit George. Former best buds McDreamy and McSteamy (Eric Dane) may reconcile now that Addison's left town. As for new faces, Derek shared a moment with Lexi (Chyler Leigh), who he didn't know was Meredith's little sis. If things don't work out with Mer, might he hook up with Lexi? "No way," says Rhimes. "If you know McDreamy at all you know that the moment he finds out that she is Meredith's half sister, he can't go there." But Lexi, a new intern, will definitely cause problems for poor Meredith.

Excellent Season 4 premiere! I absolutely loved it!

Izzie saving Bambi's life. Callie not getting respect from the residents. Bailey giving Webber and Callie grief over not being Chief Resident. Later, Webber telling Bailey that he didn't give it to her because he knows she can be a damn good surgeon, and that is where she needs to focus her energies. Not juggling everybody's schedule. He said that someday she will thank him. She replied, "Not today." Classic!

Meredith met Lexie, but, wasn't very nice to her. Lexie ended up being a great character, and you can tell she has her head on straight. She even talked George out of his depression over being an intern, again.

In the end, Derek and Meredith broke up, but, started kissing, which looked to be leading to sex.

George went over to Meredith's house, and Izzie answered the door. George simply said, "I love you, too". That's how it ended.

There is so much more, and next week looks to really be amazing, but, I am tired, and ready to relax.

All in all, an excellent season premiere. If anyone was worried that Grey's was going downhill....don't. It's still going strong!

The whole deer storyline was the week point of an excellent season premiere ...

At first I didn't like Lexie ... but she grew on me during the hour ...

I loved Mark telling Derek that he moved to Seattle for him LOL ...

I hated that the residents didn't give Callie respect ...

I loved that the new residents gave the "Bailey" speech to the new interns ...

All of the patients were interesting ... except the weird "eat anything" dude ... that was odd ... How could they not notice him eating the scissors?

Oh ... and the one point I HATED the most about this episode ... "I love you too" ... UGH!

I have said it before ... I hate GIZZIE!

I thought Shonda had said she'd kill Gizzie??!! I am confused. Well, maybe we'll know more next week.

I saw the "Bailey" sppech in a preview, and I totally love that. And George is Meredith's intern! Fun!!

McDreamy and Meredith broke up???! Seriously??!! I hate that, but Shonda said they were gonna stay together, at least Derek wouldn't go anywhere, but we'll know more about that too next week

Aaah, premiere week is so exciting!

Edit: I have seen the episode now and I loved it!! Much lighter than the second half of Season 3, but still the same nice balance of comedy and drama that makes Grey's such a great show.
The Bailey speech was great, Bailey herself was pretty awesome (The Nazi's back) and everybody was doing pretty well, but still shaken.
I think Cristina might have a major breakdown sooner or later like the one in Season 2 when she couldn't stop crying.
Callie was kinda annoying although I like her, but she had it rough.
The severed arm was pretty funny, but the deer-thing was kinda weird and let's admit it ridiculous, but I think it shows that the show will go back to more fun.
A very good episode and great season opening!! I can't wait for the next episode.

I really enjoyed the episode. Yes, Meredith continued being a bitch towards Lexie, and I believe that she is being unreasonable. However, as humans, we all tend to have issues that we do not want to deal with, and no matter how crazy, ridiculous, and downright bitchy it might seem, we won't have it. I understand this.

Bailey cracked me up. I love the scene when she unloaded on Alex. She really needed to do this, and Alex just happened to be her target. Yes, he did something very stupid, by letting the father of the child know that he knew about the crystal meth.

I really enjoyed the scenes with Burke's mother. I especially liked the part when she and Cristina finally spoke. She made Cristina realize that she can accomplish anything, and that she is a strong woman. I love when Cristina told the mother, who was cooking the crystal meth, what had happened to her husband and son. When the woman started freaking out, you knew Cristina caught what Burke's mother said, when Cristina told the woman, "I know that it seems like your world is falling apart all around you. You will be alright. You will get through this."

Also, very touching was the scene where Izzie told the older gentleman, who was the neighbor of the drug dealers, "Just because people do horrible things, doesn't mean they are always horrible people." This rings so true. It also speaks to the nature of addiction. How addiction of anything drives otherwise very normal, very sane, and nice people to do horrible things.

So, to me, the message of this episode was very good, and I continue to enjoy this top notch show. I know that there are people who have said that they've given up on it. That's too bad. To me, it means that they aren't listening to the message. It's their loss though. Grey's Anatomy continues to be an enjoyable distraction from life, for me.

Fabulous episode! Michael Ausiello was right when he said it was like back in Season 2. The scene with Cristina trying to get rid of all the kitchen machines in exchange for surgeries and such was hilarious as was Bailey this episode.
"Please" She really ruled this episode.
I feel really sorry for Callie, like Shonda said in her blog, she's in for a rough time and everybody acted like it was all her fault this episode.

George and Izzie....I really hope this is gonna end soon. It was handled very nicely this episode, I didn't mind it as much as I have, but still it's simply weird and should seriously stop soon. I just don't like it.

Meredith and Derek was kinda cute, especially the end, not so broken up after all, at least I hope it is. Derek loves Meredith so much and she just has to learn to show her love, because she loves him too. More than she wants to admit.
Her behavior towards Lexie is unfair, but understandable, Meredith never had what Lexie and her sister had, she is plain jealous, so Meredith's reaction is natural.

Cristina and Mama Burke. Absolutely great. I loved how almost everybody talked to Mama before Cristina finally did in what was one of the strongest moments in the whole episode. Mrs Burke telling her that she was a strong person was I think the first step to recovery for Cristina and very important because it showed her that it was not her fault and that Mama Burke doesn't blame her.
When she was talking to the crystal meth woman I liked how again the word "breathe" came up, something that dominated the last minutes of the Season 3 finale with Ingrid Michaelson's (whose music btw is great and was used several times on Grey's last season) song "Keep breathing".

I still love Grey's and it's getting better, but it never was bad or even okay, it was always great. I loved Season 3, there as a lot I didn't like, but still some of the best hours on TV.

Small scoop on Grey's!

From ComingSoon.net:

Lauren Stamile has landed a major recurring role on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," while Ever Carradine will be recurring on Fox's "24."

The Hollywood Reporter says that on ABC Studios' "Grey's," Stamile will play opposite Patrick Dempsey, but the producers are keeping mum on a potential onscreen romance.

Stamile has done numerous guest-starring appearances in addition to co-starring on WB Network's "Off Center."

On "24," from Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox TV, Carradine will play an FBI agent.

Carradine also recurs on "Women's Murder Club," 20th TV's new drama series for ABC.
