Again, probably heard this before, but i never followed up on that
Woul you name your personal favorite Disney Live Action that could also do well in animated ( be it 2 or 3d )form:
Here are my Personal Favorites:
Hocus Pocus (1993) All ladies present should remain in the vocal cast.
National Treasure (could have been a lot better than Atlantis, and yes I am aware of the fact that that perticular movie come out much later)
Which Live action could work in animation?

When it comes to brains, I got the lion-share,
but when it comes to bruth strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool

Is this just disney live action films or any live action films?
But anyway, my choices would be.
My Fair Lady - I know that fox was going to do this but they chose Anastasia instead, but i still think this film would be wonderful if animated.
The Phantom of the Opera - LOL now i know the play is rather dark, but it could be done in vein of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Plus I feel if it was going to be animated they could really flesh out the world more, and use very dramatic colours and lighting that would seem odd in a live action version
The Merchant of Venice - Now I know this one probably seems pretty out there, since the story is filled with religious, racial, and predjuduce (sp?) issues. But if they toned down those problems and some of the shakespherian dialouge it would make a great adventure filled story.
Oh and lastly Wicked!
I think it just screams animated musical!
They could keep the original actors even if they were too old to look the part still.
& an animated version would be much better then a live action version anyway.

And then they could really make Erik's face look like it does in the book.skyler888 wrote:

Live-Action Movies into Animated Movies?
Skyler, skyler! You wrote that some of your choices are dark and must be toned down for an animated movie. I hope you're just doing that because it's for a Disney animated movie, because animated movies in general can be dark and adult. In fact, maybe Disney could just do some adult animated movies and give them the ratings they need, really huge for parents too stupid to not look at the ratings to see. Nothing past PG-13, but the later Harry Potters turned PG-13. With the right marketing that heavily flaunts the dark or mature nature of the films, their should be no complaints from parents and no incident of them accidently letting their children see the films they wouldn't want them to see.skyler888 wrote:Is this just disney live action films or any live action films?
Interesting, and good idea, since animation has a history with musicals, especially Disney. Why do you think it would be better animated? The thing about Wicked is it tries to go beyond the fairy tale and make Oz very deep and dark like the real world, focusing on the real stroy of the wicthes of Oz. Not to forget that since it is heavily based on events in the extremely well-known MGM live-action movie of The Wizard of Oz, having this movie that shows what's behind those events would be much more potent in the smae medium: live-action.skyler888 wrote:Oh and lastly Wicked!

And on that note, maybe The Wizard of Oz would make a good live-action film turned animated. Think of the colorful land of Oz, and the special effects you can creat much better with animation.

Oh I know that animation can be dark,
I've seen quite a few that were.
But I said that because if it were to be made by Disney.
One of my favorite Disney movies is The HunchBack of Notre Dame, which is considered dark.
I'd actually love it if Disney did make more adult oriented animated features!
And my reasons for Wicked is that if it was animated maybe people wouldnt expect it to be a sequel to the MGM movie.
Because I know alot of the time when say my younger siblings and cousins would watch a live-action interpration of the Wizard of Oz they'd expect it to have Judy Garland prancing around in ruby slippers.
LOL I'm not really sure if i explained it clear enough.
But if it was animated, since its in a different medium, people would'nt expect it to be exactly like the MGM movie

Oh yay you like dark animatedness too! Anyway, the reason I quoted from you is exactly why I would want Wicked to be live-action. Because it is based on the MGM movie and if it's supposed to be the backstory to the MGM movie, it should be done in the same medium. Firstly, I'm sure people would realize it was more of a prequel than a sequel, but in actuality, Schwartz (music and lyrcis) said it's supposed to be the truth or behind the scenes of the Wizard of Oz, not a prequel. So it would just make more sense to have everything be live-action, real people, and do it in the same medium as what it is trying to expose the truth of. Screw the audience, this is art!skyler888 wrote:LOL I'm not really sure if i explained it clear enough.

The Phantom of the Opera: rather digg that one
thought of it earlier as a matter of fact.
Any Shakespearian adaptation would do well animated, since I am a great fan of the stop motion puppetry in Shakespeare the Animated Tales.
Wonder what you think of Dracula, this is something that if done right, maybe comical even (Frankenstein & Igor) could do well.
I never quite understood why they deserted Aida though,
I loved the initial character design, much like Aladdin,
ha, maybe that's why!
The Count of Monte Cristo?
King Arthur ( in Sean Connery style/first knight)?
