Faked Animation Movies

I went to a store here today, it was a store when you can buy a lot of garbage. But they had some disney vhs, not many disney dvd's though. Anyway, I was "browsing trough the dvd's" and I saw a lot of faked Disney movies. Some examples:

The Hunchback of the Notre Dame --> Hunchback
The Lion King --> Lion and King
Pocahontas --> Pocahontas

And lots more! The animation was really crappy but almost every disney animated movie was there, faked! Even Anastasia was faked. It really was a nightmare

I guess these people have rights on the story or something, but I find it very pathetic that they are trying to get money from people that are retarded enough to buy those horrible animated movies from some "brand" (didn't even see the name of the company anywhere".

What do you think of this? Have you seen these "things" in your country?

Well, they certainly have the rights to most Disney stories, being as they're based on Fairytales, true stories or published works long out of copyright. As for The Lion King - it's reported to be a copy of a Japanese Anime saga, so I guess Disney must turn a blind eye to other such films with similar "inspiration" for fear of opening a can of worms themselves.

Really, it's nothing to worry about, and Amazon in various countries have a way of identifying these films - they add the suffix "- Not Disney!"

I've seen these at Best BUy a lot. They are like $4.99 or something. Extremely cheap. That's how you can know they aren't Disney. When was the last time Disney ever did anything for cheap (different than "on the Cheap")?

Well, first of all they are NOT fakes, this you can not say!
They are not Disney, that´s right, but not fakes.
Other studios have tried to get money on the same idea as Disney and as 2099net pointed out above, they have the right to do so in mostly every case there is on this matter, since the stories are not something completly own by Disney = fairytales or common stories.
If it´s a book, that Disney had bought the rights of, to do a film on, then there is some legal subject, but not in the case of the ones you mentioned.

I know that the story's are not disney "property" but it just suprised me. Ok, and I used the term "Faked" wrong. I just think this is lame, the whole disney collection was there. Even 101 dalmations with almost the same cruela.

I guess there are a lot of different movies based on stories that Disney used but Pocahontas was a title that stayed the same, together with 101 dalmations and some other. That tittle will be another one

I'm surprised that they could keep the 101 Dalmatians name - it's a film based on an existing book. I suppose it's possible the book's story could have been relicenced by another company. But I find this doubtful considering the recent release of 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure.
