It's funny you made this thread today, since I watched The Sword in the Stone today.
Mad Madam Mim is one of the least scary villains. She reminds me of a hyper child- she's a show-off. I don't think she's too evil (especially when you compare her to most Disney villains)...she's just misunderstood. She just needs some friends.
The Wizards' duel is one of my favorite scenes in any Disney movie (along with the squirrel scene)- I love how she & Merlin transform into the different animals. Some of the backgrounds in TSitS remind me of Sleeping Beauty, and Mim turning into the dragon reminded me of Maleficent.
She's not the best Disney villain as far as villainy goes, but she's a good comedic villain. It's too bad she doesn't get much screen time.

While Mim is one of the more comedic villains, she also has her evil moments, just more subtle. Such as wilting the flower, trying to eat Arthur and cheating during the duel. All of those could be considered evil, or at the very least bad. However while misunderstood like Blackcauldron siad, she does have friends, in the comic books she's often seen hanging around Witch Hazel, the Evil Queen (in peddler form) and I think Magica De Spell. Of course I could be wrong about that it's been ahwile since I first read about it. Oh and before I forget, I also heard from the same place, that she has a crush on Captain Hook
I'll see if I can find a link to the site where I read this
My first cat was a feral kitten. She was a black cat with yellow eyes. I named her Mad Madame Mim and she grew into that name well. She got big and fat, and was mean as sin to all the other cats around. She beat the crap out of other cats.
One day, she bit off more than she could chew. She went after a baby blue jay that fell out of the nest. I watched in horror from my bedroom window as a flock of blue jays came at her at once. She was a highly intelligent cat though. She could open doors. She ran to the basement door, opened it (and thankfully) it automatically closed behind her. The baby bird wasn't hurt. But I found Mad Madame Mim a few hours later. Her ego severerly damaged...as was a beautiful black fur coat. The birds pulled tufts of hair out of her all over One tuft on her nose, never grew back. It was right in the middle of her nose, I said as a reminder to never attack another blue jay again. She didn't.
And sorry, this has nothing to do with her namesake, just that they were both nuts.

sorry if this is off-topic but
OMG IT"S ALADDIN FROM AGRAGBAH!!!!! Where have you been? I've missed you!!
Ok back to the topic at hand, I agree, Mim could turn herself into somebody good looking. What I'm curious about is if she used that to play games with people, after all she likes her games (especially hide and seek I think)

Oh yeah definitely haha.xxhplinkxx wrote:Madame Mim was sexy!
Yeah Mad Madame Mim, she cracks me up. Her song is one of my favorite Villain songs. I love the part when Merlin turns the tables and infects her with the sickness! She thought she was being so sly with her loop holes and trickery. THEN BANG! Merlin gets her lol.
She's almost kind of a pointless villain though, since there is no real point of her in the story and she's in it til the very end. But overall her appearence is a very much appreciated one.

Mim was always one of my personal favourites - partly because the Sword in the Stone is one of my personal favourite Disney films. She could, if she wanted, remain in her beautiful form permanently, but she doesn't because she revels in being rotten and just wants to have fun. She takes pride in her ugliness.
It wasn't always like that - originally she was designed as a sinister beauty, with eyes like slits and a Raven sidekick, but I'm glad Bill Peet ultimately went with a different, more original design (not least because Disney had already had not one but two villains of this exact description!), which is much more in keeping with the spirit of the film and emphasises the differences between her and Merlin.
Also worth noting is that, to my knowledge, she's the only Disney witch whose magic comes from her own fingertips rather than some sort of external influence or source. The Queen, Ursula and Yzma only use potions, and even Maleficent has to use her staff to cast spells. Mim, however, only needs to wave her own hand.

Yes, she's frequently in the Donald Duck comics, that are very popular in Norway at least, and I would guess the rest of Europe as well. She's not really portrayed as evil, though. In fact, I remember reading several comics where she tries to do good, but fails horribly due to her clumsy nature.bennyb98 wrote:Woah, learn something new everyday.
