Rumor has it that it will be out sometime in December of this year, just in time for Christmas.

I'm still debating on whether or not I should double-dip, as I already own Seasons 1-6 (and "7-9"). It all depends on if the bonus features are good enough to spend that much dough.

No, silly what HE wants is the Complete Series set like Andy Griffith & the Brady’s got with more extras and new packaging. There still is no real date but the last I heard the rumor was late this year. :)

The release date is September 11, and rumors are it will include a bonus disc with the additional material as well as the I Love Lucy movie (rediscovered in 2001) which uses new footage to bridge three episodes together: "The Benefit", "Breaking the Lease", and "The Ballet". The movie was initially planned to be included in the Seasons 7/8/9 set, but I'm guessing they decided to hold it back for the complete series release (or a standalone release that no one bothered to tell tvshowsondvd.com about?). I'm hoping the boxset will also include the 50th Anniversary Special, that way I can get all my Lucy in one fell swoop (as I've been delaying buying any I Love Lucy seasons or discs, save for S1V8, for the past 5 years!).

This is going on my Christmas wishlist. I've been meaning to buy the season DVDs ever since they first came out, but other things kept coming up that I wanted to buy first. Now I'm glad I never bought them, though I feel sorry for those who bought each individual season. Putting more bonus material in an elaborate set is a slap in the face to the people who've faithfully been buying each set as they were released. Paramount should offer those people the chance to purchase the bonus disc, perhaps by requesting a proof of purchase tab from the 7/8/9 set or something.

It's also icing on the cake for people who suffered for years without purchasing the season sets even though they so desperately wanted to. ;)

Still, I agree that it is a slap to those who bought season-by-season. Thank god I didn't do this for Star Trek: The Next Generation! And that's getting a mega boxset this fall too! :D

I for one can not wait for this release ... I may have every season ... but I sure as hell will double dip for my Lucy ...

I hope the box is heart shaped ...

And TVShowsonDVD does know that there will be a standalone release for the I LOVE LUCY MOVIE ... They said so right here ... http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7019

Woohoo!

Is this really confirmed for release on September 11th? If so, I'm going to REALLY be broke in September, as the three ABC TV DVD sets I want are coming out that month, as well!

I do plan to pick this up, as I only have a couple of volumes of the show on DVD, and episodes spread throughout several VHS tapes, that I've recorded off of TV Land. I really can't wait for this release. I'm just hoping that I'll be able to afford to pick it up the week it comes out, because it will drive me nuts not to be able to.

Really?? Is that true? Where did you get this info? My friend LOVES ST:TNG but held back on buying the season sets. This would make a great Xmas gift!

Good news about I Love Lucy too. I only have Season 1 but wanted the rest.

Well, if it isn't true, then Wil Wheaton's been doing retrospective interviews for nothing!

Clickedy-Click! Yay!

 Me too! I once devoted an entire summer (I'm sure it was 2001) to taping the "I Love Lucy" marathons they'd have on Nick at Nite! Must've gotten half the series on VHS that way, but it's mixed and matched with episodes of "Port Charles" and "All My Children" from that summer as well...

I've bought and opened S1 & S2 of "Lucy", but haven't watched either yet. Depending on what prices I can find for the set, I might just sell them and buy the complete series. It also kind of depends on the packaging, as I don't want to spend a lot of money for something that's going to be difficult to store.

Ditto to all this for ST:TNG (except I've only bought S1 of that and I have watched it).

Here's the story, of a media company,
Who were releasing TV on DVD seasons on their own,
A business that is fine and makes perfect sense,
but some of them had no supplements.

Here's the story, of the greedy shareholders,
Who exploit the media that this company owns.
They care only for the accounting bottom line,
and will do anything to screw anyone out of a dime.

One day they decided to release complete series sets,
With an incentive for loyal fans to rebuy.
A bonus disc, full of treasures
that all loyal fans would miss.

Its just like the Brady Bunch,
The Complete Brady Bunch.
Paramount are screwing people like they did
With the Brady Bunch.

Yes, it doesn't quite match the tune right, but its the best I could do. The message is clear.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
