Post by DisneyGirl22 »

i just won one on ebay! mim so excited since The Lion King is what set me off on the Disney path in the first place a couple weeks ago.

The Aladdin set is my favorite. Of course I think it's also the only DVD gift set I have, since Aladdin is my favorite Disney animated film.

I did not even know there was a Canadian and a US version!!

I guess it might be the US version. The store is located in the US and the Buena Vista stamp on the back of the Cinderella DVD doesn't have the 'disc made in Canada' under it which is usually there when it's a canadian release.

Hmm I don't think purple or that shade of purple works well with the background. The background is very pretty but I feel like its lacking the Aladdin world.

That depends on how much packaging means to you... The sets dont really bring any news and backinfo that is not already on the DVD, the books have nice illustrations but that's about it... But you do get some nice things in the set - the sericell and the portraits are really nice and definately ads a touch of magic to any Disney collection... So basically it's all about how much you care about packaging and collectibles - to me it was worth the extra bucks - Again the sets are really nice...

Ya know, I never got any of the gift sets for any of the Platinum Edition movies, but now I'm kinda looking into doing so. I don't want to get all of them, but The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie and I would really like to own the box set for it. Do you think it is worth buying from eBay or Amazon, even though I already own the Platinum Edition DVD?

I already had Cinderella and Aladdin but I just really liked the look of the gift set and the hand drawn character cards as well as the book that comes with it. Cinderella and Aladdin also include a piece of the film strip. Its worth it if you are interested in that kinda stuff. I only bought the lion king cause it was one i could afford, i didnt know anything about gift sets but when I saw how nice it was i decided i wanted the other gift sets too.

and thanks for the aladdin tip....im just waiting till i have an extra $50 for it. I didnt realize it but when I added up how much ive spent on disney products in the past month its closer to $1000 lol and I just ordered 3 movies from the club, 2 from the disney store and preordered 3-4 from amazon.com so i need a break lol

If anyone is interested, this seller has an Aladdin Gift Set on sale on eBay:

I bought a few things from him in the past and they were all authentic so that might be worth a try!
