NEW ABC/Touchstone DVDs!-Greys, Betty, Lost, DH, B&S,WAB

Post by James »

Luke has posted this very informative and exciting info on the front page-
Ever since the 2004-05 television season dealt Disney's network ABC a ratings resurgance thanks to hit Disney-produced dramas, the months of August through October have been marked with Buena Vista Home Entertainment issuing big season sets of its most popular series. The practice began in September 2005, expanded last year, and will expand even more in 2007 as no less than six hour-long ABC/Touchstone series are treated to DVD boxes of their 2006-07 seasons. Currently slated for DVD releases timed to precede next fall's new season are "Lost": The Complete Third Season - The Unexplored Experience, "Grey's Anatomy": The Complete Third Season - Seriously Extended, "Desperate Housewives": The Complete Third Season - The Dirty Laundry Edition, "Ugly Betty": The Complete First Season - The Bettified Edition, "Brothers and Sisters": The Complete First Season, and "What About Brian": The Complete First Season. We'll have more information on all of the above as the studio makes it available in the weeks ahead.
I am so excited for these, I get so pumped up about the box art, the disc art, the features, and most of all, the UltimateDisney reviews of them. My most anticipated is a fourway tie between Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty and Brothers and Sisters. I watch all four religiously, so yeah, I can't wait. The other two, Lost and What About Brian don't really interest me. Any thoughts?

I hope the new Lost set means price reductions on the previous sets. After much consideration I've decided I wanna stick around for the ride despite concerns I have with some of the show's storylines so I need to repurchase the previous seasons.

Looking forward to Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives as they're the only two I keep up with (well, UB at least, I've been an on/off DH viewer since season 2).

Well I think it's safe to say that the "Dirty Laundry" edition of DH's cover will resemble something to this nature:

Other than the repulsive names, yay! :D

Love how the clock is set for 9 pm, but I'm a bit disturbed by that tanline on the shirtless laundry guy.

"Dirty Laundry Edition"?!? Do they actually pay people to come up with these names?

Great news though, especially for What About Brian.

I'm looking forward to Desperate Housewives and Lost, mainly DH. The edition names may be corny, but I could really care less since I know we'll be getting an incredible transfer, fantastic bonus features, and a nice little box to keep it in. I LOVE the DH and Lost sets. When it comes to quality and quantity, they do a fantastic job!

 I set that picture as my desktop wallpaper before the season started. I didn't even notice the guy until a few days later, but changed it immediatly when I did! Let's just say that that freakishly weird tanline refused to leave my mind and I had a hard time sleeping that night. :P

I quite like the "Ugly Betty" one. It's just so Betty!!
The Brothers and Sisters one really does looks like the Grey's box.
I like the Bubbe effect on the DH cover. But I think they'll all change a bit till September.

I love how the "Housewives" cover is from the POV of one of the washing machines. Clever, yet I'm not too keen on the yellow near the spine. Personally I would make it more of a silver (for matching's sake).

Ooopps, I thought that was a soap bubble  . Now the washing machine's POV makes more sense.

Definitely buying Lost. It's nice to see consistancy with the art direction of the box sets for Lost. Don't know if I'm buying Housewives though. The only episode in there I really want is 'Bang'.

I love that shade of green on the Lost box.

Ugly Betty's cover is too scary for me. :headshake: Can we say extreme close-up?

I like the covers- the What About Brian one is nice, I like the Brothers and Sisters one, the Grey's Anatomy one keeps in theme with the other sets, as does the Lost one, the Desperate Housewives one is the best, and teh Ugly Betty one is just too close for my taste. But it's still good, it's very Betty, as Dottie said.
Can't wait for bigger art and the official announcements on 31st of May.
