The Ultimate CD Thread

Post by TheSequelOfDisney »

Of course, this thread is quite similar to "The Ultimate Disney DVD" and "The Ultimate DVD" threads, but, as you could have probably guessed, deals with CDs. This is NOT a competition thread. It's kinda just to let out some stress and put something fun into making the CDs.

Well, to start off this groovy thread, let's begin with some of the best recent broadway hits:

Image

CD 1:

All Choked Up, All I Ask Of You, All That Jazz, Beauty And The Beast, Beauty School Dropout, Belle, Be Our Guest, Be Prepared, Big Girls Don't Cry, Born To Hand Jive, Bring Him Home, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Can't My Eyes Off Of You, Cell Block Tango, Circle of Life, December 1963, Defying Gravity, Do You Hear The People Sing? Empty Chairs At Empty Tables, Endless Night, Everyone's a Little Bit Racist, For Good, For Now, Good Morning Baltimore, Greased Lightnin', Hairspray

CD 2:

Music of the Night, No Good Deed, Nowadays, On My Own, One Day More, Popular, Razzle Dazzle, Rent, Roxie, Santa Fe, Seasons Of Love, Shadowland, Sherry, Something There, Sun And Moon

CD 3:

Summer Nights, Take Me Or Leave Me, Thank Goodness, The American Dream, The Fall Of Saigon, The Heat Is On In Saigon, The Internet Is For Porn, The Last Night Of The World, The More You Ruv Someone, The Phantom of the Opera, The Point of No Return, The Wizard and I, They Live You, Think of Me, Walk Like A Man, We Go Together, Welcome To The 60's, What Is This Feeling? What You Own, When You're Good To Mama, Who Loves You, Without Love, Why God Why? Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, You Can Be as Loud as the Hell You Want (When You're Makin' Love), You Can't Stop The Beat

Bonus DVD:

The Greatest Broadway Hits - New 3-hour documentary discussing the many Broadway theatrical productions in recent history, and one Broadway favorite. Includes many Broadway directors, producers, original cast members from the productions and others

Jiminy Crick... You linked this to a NEW CD Thread. This is the ULTIMATE CD Thread.

Did you mean to make that mistake? Or was it a complete accident?

I've been writing a short novel/screenplay called A Complicated Woman, and if I ever had the funds to make a film out of it, I'd want for Rachel Portman to do the original score. She did the scores for The Cider House Rules, Nicholas Nickleby (2002), and Oliver Twist (2005), and I absolutely loved them all, and often listen to the score of The Cider House Rules (by playing the DVD in the background since I don't have the soundtrack cd...) whenever I do any writing for A Complicated Woman.

A Complicated Woman - Original Soundtrack: Two-Disc Special Edition

Disc One: Original Score by Rachel Portman
1. Main Title
2. Going to Work
3. A Walk in the Park
4. Dining in Style
5. Trouble at the Hospital
6. Danger!
7. Quiet Recollections
8. Running Away
9. The Lost One
10. Finding a Memory
11. Looking Back
12. The Last Promise
13. Visiting a Friend
14. End Credits
15. Suite from "A Complicated Woman": Main Title/Dining in Style/The Lost One/The Last Promise

Disc Two: Bonus DVD
The Music of "A Complicated Woman" - an interview with composer Rachel Portman as she discusses her music for the film and how she set certain scenes to music. (15 minutes)
Rachel McAdams on being A Complicated Woman - an interview with star Rachel McAdams, who portrays the titular character, as she offers her views on the themes of the film and how she interpreted her role. (10 minutes)
Music Video: A Walk in the Park - a lyrical version of the score, set to scenes from the film. (4 minutes)
Music Video: The Last Promise - the powerful instrumental score, set to scenes from the film. (6 minutes)
Original Theatrical Trailer - A Complicated Woman (3 minutes)
Sneak Preview - Think of Laura* (2 minutes, the sequel to A Complicated Woman)

Packaging:
CD Case - four-panel colored dual-disc jewel-case digipak with slot for booklet.

CD Guide - 16-page square booklet with an introduction and liner notes by the film's composer, Rachel Portman.

SRP $24.99

*Yes, it's the same name as the Christopher Cross song, which is actually where I got the inspiration for A Complicated Woman. Well, that and the Gene Tierney film Laura (1944).

AwallaceUNC: Would you prefer Substi-Blu-tiary Locomotion? :p

WIST #61:

16. The Prayer (with Andrea Bocelli)
17. My Heart Will Go On (live)
18. Ce N'Était Qu'un Rêve (live)

Bonus DVD: The Concert
For this dream CD, she'd return to the Colisseum at Caesar's Palace for a special week-long engagement. Here, she'd perform tracks from this album, including some rarely performed ones and ones she hasn't performed in years, plus a few covers here and there. The show would be more intimate and would include all new arrangements of many of her hits. The live versions of Ce N'Était Qu'un Rêve and My Heart Will Go On that close the second CD will come from this concert. All of the shows would be filmed in high definition and edited together to make a single concert film. Nothing would be left out on the DVD.

1. Love Can Move Mountains (add some guitar to the typical arrangement, and choir is needed)
2. That's The Way It Is (a more R&B vibe than typical live performances)
3. Because You Loved Me (regular live arrangement)
4. The Man That Got Away (Judy Garland cover) (of course this has to be a jazzy arrangement)
5. Think Twice (regular arrangement)
6. It's All Coming Back To Me Now (typical arrangement with heavier strings and guitars)
7. The Power Of Love (strings only)
8. Call The Man (with choir)
9. (If There Was) Any Other Way (modern club hit arrangement)
10. I Drove All Night (album version arrangement)
11. How Will I Know (Whitney Houston cover, of course) (classic 80's arrangement)
12. Beautiful (Christina Aguilera song) (album version arrangement)
13. Be The Man (album version arrangement)
14. Misled (modern club hit arrangement, with some added guitar)
15. All By Myself (album arrangement)
16. To Love You More (modern club hit arrangement, but with strings to keep it in touch with its original arrangement)
17. Beauty and the Beast (with a backup singer) (Strings only)
18. If He Walked Into My Life (song from Mame)
19. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (piano only)
