A evening of good and bad things.

Post by Uncle Remus »

well i came back from doing many things tonight. first i will start with seeing the Cat in the Hat in theaters. i saw trailers to Shrek 2 and Home on the Range as well as Cody Banks 2, Cheaper by the Dozen, and Peter Pan. the movie was very hillarious with Mike Meyers. my favorite scene is when the Cat is acting as many parts in a cook show and ends with the Cat accidently cutting off his tail and yelling "Son of a ..." and a sign saying Please Stand By after the Cat said the phrase. still there are some very funny parts in the whole movie.
after the movie i decided to go to the mall since i havent been there in a long time. i was looking forward to going to the Disney Store until i go to the area where it was and find out it isnt there any more. instead there is a stupid Christmas store that made me very mad. i found out at the service desk that the Disney Store went out of business four months ago. so i left the mall sad about what happened and i decided to go on the computer to tell mu story and here it is. i hope you enjoyed this story. :)
(also are the Disney Stores in your cities still open or closed?)

Nice story, could have used some more gratuitous violence and/or nudity :P

There weren't many here, but the one we had close by has been replaced by a snobby clothes store (which is next to a psycho clothing store). Mind you, the Disney store never really had any DVDs, but it had a HUGE selection of Pooh plush toys, which I regret not buying more of now. In its last days, even those things went.

It is shame, but I guess with the Internet, specialty stores aren't needed as much.

You need to get out to the mall a bit more often, UR.
It's been closed for FOUR months and you are just now finding out

As for the status pf other stores, I know they closed a slew of them within the last year so yours is not an uncommon story. We were (or have been thus far) fortunate that our store in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis was not one of those that was shut down. Not sure what I'd do if that did happen.

What's a Psycho clothing store? Full of old woman's dresses and white wigs?

And Loomis, are you telling me you have NO Pooh in your bed? You must have a selection of poohs to brighten up your room?

the Disney store that used to be in my town had alot of Disney videos and DVDs there. they would even have ones that couldnt be found at the Wal-Mart and K-mart stores in my town. the Disney store would also have things like snowglobes toys, and clothes in the store. the reason i wanted i wanted to go to the Disney store last night is to buy the latest issue that i havent recieved in a long time. soon i found out that they were replaced by a stupid Christmas store that would stupid Christmas junk as well as Seminoles and Gators merchandise (i live in Florida). now i have to go to all these book stores and try to find a issue of the latest Disney magazine.

Hee hee hee...
The psycho clothing store had a bunch of people who would almost attack you with a "How are you today!!?", even if you were just wandering past. They would leave the store and ask you. Then once I went inside to look at some jeans, I got asked (no joke) 4 times in 2 minutes "how I was" by 4 different members of staff. And they did this to everyone. I freaked out and ran away. (We all go a little crazy sometimes).

I have a few pieces of Pooh in my room, but not as much as I would like :)

I got my plush Stitch at the Disney store in downtown Indy, and my Nemo at the one on the northern side. So I've been to both of those...and upon last visit, they seemed to be doing fine. There were always people there. The nearest to me now...is the one at the mall up here, where I got my Koda...and where I'm going to visit on Tuesday on my way home...

But, from my observation, the Disney stores in Indiana (the three I've been to) haven't been having the same problems, perhaps...that the ones on the coasts have? Maybe the one by the circle shut down while I've been away, but...

I'm glad they're still here. It's one of my favorite stores, so I hope they don't vanish... :)

All the Disney stores in my area are still there, we have one in the Reading Mall, one in Exton, one in Lancaster and one in King of Prussia and I have been to them all at least once in the last month.

Now this is just freeking scary. I live near Reading (Didcot - Map), I used to like with my parents live in Euxton (pronounced Exton - the "U" is silent) who still live there and the whole family used to live near Lancaster (Carnforth - Map). All UK places of course. I am, however, not the King of Prussia (Unless there's a dark, terrible secret hidden in our family tree).

LOL, nothing to be afraid of! In the northeastern United States, a lot of the colonies took the names for their towns/cities from ones in Europe.

But Maerj, you shop through my life! :o I haven't lived anywhere else!

I've added maps now - as you can see Lancaster and Reading are less than 20 miles away from my (various) abodes!

The same thing happened to the Disney Store here (Grand Rapids, Michigan). I went to the mall and the Disney Store was gone. I went to the mall desk and they said they closed a while back. They said I could go to the Disney Store at an another mall about 25 mins from that one. I couldn't believe it closed because it had been there for so long. I went to the disney store at the other mall and wasn't impressed and will probably never go back but thats a whole nother story.

The Disney Company is cutting back on the disney stores. In my Newspaper wrote an article on Disney counts on mouse power to energize sales. "Mickey Mouse, once described by Walt Disney as a little fellow trying to do the best he could, is being called on to do even better. When Andy Mooney arrived at the Walt Disney Co. a few years ago to rescue its struggling merchandising operation, he was stunned to find how much the entertainment giant was underutilizing its famous mouse. Disney is planting his vintage visage in hip places in the hopes of moving more merchandise. Already he has been snugly stretched across a T-shirt worn by actress Sarah Jessica Parker during a racy secene on HBO's Sex and the City. Disney also hired a graffiti artist to spray paint a 1930s style Mickey Moucse comic strip last week on the side of a building. A series of U.S. postage stamps is in the works Classic comic books are being rolled out again :D The company recently announced plans to close more than 100 of its 500 plus Disney Store outlets!!!!!! :o :evil:Disney is hoping that a hipper image for Mickey will make him more appealing to a new generation of teenage buyers." Well I hope that helps. That is why they have been closing some of your Disney Stores . This is my 50th post on this site :!: :D  Thanks

I actually get to visit The Disney Store tomorrow...on my way home from school, for my Thanksgiving Break. :) I don't know what I'll get, but I'm thinking maybe a plush Kenai...to complement my Koda. :) I don't get to go very often (maybe two or three times a year), so I'm excited!
