Detailed plot info for Pixar's "WALL•E"

Post by Kyle »

"WALL E" skillfully blends sci-f & satire to tell a surprisingly sweet tale

slight spoilers here as they basically outline the plot of the whole movie. I personally haven't read much of it, but Ive been told it doesnt really reveal anything that we wont eventually see in a trailer for it anyway.

http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/ ... again.aspx

the biggest things worth noting...

the movie is essentially a silent film.
this will be the first Pixar movie to feature a live action human character.

From what I just read, it’s a film that I’ve been dying to see be made.

Count me in!

I'm not sure what I think about this article.

At least we know what the letters WALL E possibly stand for. I'm a little concerned about zero dialogue throughout 1/3 of the movie....sounds a bit boring to me, and what about connecting to the characters?

I'm sure Pixar will turn this into something great...I have faith.

WALL•E

I didn't read the whole thing, but enough to know that I will like it a lot! I think it's a brilliant, original idea, and I love it!

Well, it is a challenge to make characters that don't speak so powerful we can relate to them and like them and percieve feelings from them without speech. I mean, today most communication is actually nonverbal (as in our expressions, gestures, and body movement). We relate to people easily by seeing how sad or happy they are in their face or merely observing their situation with our eyes. Besides, Pixar should rise to the challenge!

WARNING POSSIBLE SPOLIER INFO MENTIONED FROM THE ARTICLE BELOW!!!

I don't know if this film is going to work. Personally I think I'll enjoy it very much, but reflecting upon the children that will watch this... I just don't know. A future that is not productive and successful might scare children a bit, it is their future afterall. A future like Meet the Robinsons is something more that I feel kids might understand and enjoy.

Sometimes it's a good thing to be "ballsy" but maybe not with an animation studio who's productions before and after this will be Ratatouille and Toy Story 3. It seems to me that it will be about as successful as Hitchhiker's Guide. Then Again who knows really, maybe the trailer will reveal more about the feel of this film because right now I have a feeling that it's mostly gloomy and sad.

keep in mind that there will most likely be one more movie between WALL•E and toy story 3. WALL•E will be out next year, and Toy Story 3 still wont be out untill 2010. that still leaves them with one more movie for 09 to fill in the gap. Id personally take toy story 3 before any thing else (naturally), but they have to have something to pass the time untill then, and they are due to take some risks I think. they need to avoid becoming formulaic, and this should really help with that.

I'm looking forward to the no dialogue thing. Ariel didnt speak for like, what? A good half our or something? Didnt make her any less lovable to me! :D

It may work, it may not. But, I'm certainly glad to see that there's at least something innovate, and original in the works.

I think it sounds great! Very unique and interesting. There will deffinatley have to be some form of narration in the begining explaining how the Earth ended up in the state that it is in and how the Wall E program got started and all of that, but this seems like it will probably be a heartwarming film and I like the biblical reference with the female robot being named Eve. I think the subject matter of Earth being a giant garbage dump is extremely relavent with the current problems of global warming. I can't wait. I hope there is a teaser trailor for this premiering with "Meet the Robinsons" because I really want to see some animation.

Spoilers if you haven't read the article:

Wow, color me interested. Even if this movie fails on every level possible (quality, critical acclaim, and box office gross), you've got to hand it to Pixar for not regurgitating a tried-and-true story just to make quick bucks. I'm absolutely fascinated at the approach this is taking. This sounds like the type of thing they'd make a short subject for, but making it feature-length is really gutsy. I only hope it doesn't become too preachy and heavy-handed. I don't mind messages and thought-provoking drama at all as long as you can keep me interested and entertained. At the very least, watching Wall-E get his education from Hello Dolly's got to produce SOME sort of amusement. It makes me wonder if his and Eve's relationship will mirror Dolly's and Horace's. Even though the live-human-in-a-CG-film aspect has been done before with Happy Feet, I'm still curious as to how Pixar will approach that. I say bring it on. :D

Lets not forget that Dumbo was pretty much a silent film...or at least dumbo didnt say anything at all...and that is supposed to be such a "great" film. I used quotes because I didnt really like it but I thought they did a good job w/ the character not talking. you CAN do alot w/ expressions and what not.

Wow... just, wow. If that article is accurate, this movie sounds incredible; and is indeed quite a departure for Pixar, not to mention Disney. It's too bad this one isn't coming out for a while... I'm already looking forward to it more than I have any other Pixar film. The lack of dialogue for the first 1/3 of it sounds refreshing, if you ask me... and quite appropriate, given that a single robot alone on a world would have little need for speech.

"And so every morning, this WALL E powers up and then tries to accomplish the task that he's been programmed to do. Which is pick up all of the trash that's been scattered around the Earth. It's obviously an impossible job. But still this robot (with the help of his pet cockroach, Spot) does what he can every day."

Aw, just picturing that makes me want to cry. On the whole, the product seems fascinating.

Skip Ratatouille, bring on WALL E!

SPOILER If Article was not read

I wonder if Wall-E will make noises that sound like "It Only Takes a Moment" when he meets Eve, or will he be disappointed if Eve doesn't take him to Yonkers?

I hope they use some references from "Hello, Dolly!", that would make my life as a musical theater dork. I'm hoping personally he tries to communicate with a person by talking like Barbra Streisand.
