Safe: YES
User-Friendly...ummm...NO.
I've been trying to cancel an account for awhile. They keep telling me it's cancelled but then I get the club mailer the following month. And don't get me started on my free DVD voucher (for fulfilling my membership obligations) that they continue to fail to honor. They are extermely hard to get on the phone and have been less-than-helpful once I do get a live person.

You've got to make sure to reject the Monthly Selections and only satisfy the commitment with the minimum purchase amounts ($19.95 or whatever it is now.) Overall, it's a fine way to get DVDs for not a lot of money.

I have had some accounts with them before, but right now I have cancelled my membership because I am tired of mailouts and keeing track of what i have sent in and what I haven't cancelled. However, if they ever come up with that get 5 for 25 dollars without any other committment, I will definately join again!!!!!!

Columbia House is all hype.
Sure you get the first 4-6 dvd's at next to nothing, I think it's like 0.49 + Tax, but than when you account for all the dvd's that you are obligated to purchase at "regular club price", than add on all the shipping and customs charges, etc. you end up paying way more than it would normally cost you to go downtown and buy them in a store. They overcharge on almost all of their items and than try to hit you with sales promotions to swindle you into buying even more product from them making you liable to more shipping and customs charges which end up cancelling out the discounts you otherwise would have saved. Not to mention the fact that once you sign up, you can expect to be flooded with pamphlets, monthly selections, mailings, etc for the next decade. Even after you fulfill your membership requirements CH will NOT honor their agreement and will continue to send unwatned dvd's, etc. no matter how often you demand that they stop! It's a big scam. How else do you think CH can afford to offer such promotions and discount offers? It's really honestly not worth it. Sure you might save $20 here and there... but believe me, in the end, you are paying more than you would retail. If you weren't, Columbia House would not be able to stay in business.
