Music from Disney Classics Trailers
Music from Disney Classics Trailers
I was wondering, when Disney re-releases their Disney Classic animated movies, in the trailers they often have music that is not from the film. I was wondering who composes this music, or if they pinch it from other films? As Disney are famous for their wonderful music, it seems strange that they almost always never feature it in their trailers. The only one to consist of music from its own movie was 'The Little Mermaid: 2 Disc Special Edition', to my knowledge.
Here are some examples:
Peter Pan: 2 Disc Special Edition -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0icnYL9EbA
Cinderella's TV spot also had different music, which I love -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0042332/tra ... 25211-10-2
After saying hat, I can't seem to find anymore trailers as examples! I know the ones with different music were Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella etc, but I cant find them anywhere! If anyone else spots them, please post.
I remember a Beauty and the Beast trailer on the Monster's Inc DVD, and the tagline was "Save. The. Beast". I've never been able to find it online, and if anyone could post it, id be very greatful!
What does anyone else think about this music issue?

Favorite Music from Trailers for Disney Classics
OMG! Yea, totally! This is my kind a thread!!!!
I like the Peter Pan, music, but I thought some of it came from the movie itself, it sounds like it, but I haven't watched Peter in forever.
As for that Cinderella trailer, that's my FAVORITE trailer for Cinderella ever, just a bit more than the Platinum DVD one found on Bambi.
Meanwhile, my favorite music that I've ever heard in the trailer is from one of the Snow White ones. It is the princess themed one. I found this Brazillian version of it, but you have to go to the Brazilian Snow White site! After the mirror's intoduction, click on the golden castle that says "O Reino Encatado". Then, when the little Snow White land opens, click on the golden-leaved trees that say "A Floresta Encantada" and then click on the blue diamond when the page opens. You can't hear it very well, and it actually skips some of it, but the music towards the end is my favorite, right when Snow White starts dancing:
Brazilian Snow White Site
My second favorite trailer music is from that trailer's beginning and the beginning and end of the trailer found on this page, the first Snow White Platinum trailer:
U.S. Snow White Site
However, I'm almost certain I heard that music again on this promo for a made for TV movie on lifetime...when I was flipping through, once. Also, the music in Cinderella's Platinum Trailer on Bambi actually has the same music that was played in the trailer for The Hunchback of Notre Dame II! It's the music that sounds a lot like "If I Never Knew You" from Pocahontas. I also heard that music on the Brazilian Snow White site! So I think that just like there are stock sound effects, there's stock music that gets re-used in trailers a lot. I've even heard music in a TV promo that was used in a TV episode of a show I like!
I love this thread! Thanks for making it! Oh, and I forgot, I asked this before, but, remember the music at the end of the Cinderella III trailer with "Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ahhhh"? That was never in Cinderella III! I wanted it to be so badly, and wanted more music just like it!

Woo Hoo! I'm glad you liked it Dinsey Duster! I thought no one would reply to this thread, but I'm glad you like it so!
Sorry I didnt say anything earlier, but yes, I was sad as well that the "ahh ahh...." music was not included in the movie. That should have been the opening credit music!
Also, I love the music to the Alice in Wonderland DVD, and that is certainly not contained in the movie at all.
If they do have 'stock music' that they use again and again, why not just use the original? But, I do agree with you when you say you love the Snow White music, as it is just wonderful! Do Disney do it to simply try something new? I found this this morning, and it contains a re-working of 'Heigh Ho'. I love it!

They have also re-recorded all the dialogue featured as well! Much like in the cinderella trailer, if im correct, where shes says "Your grace, pleae....wait!"
But why use the original music for TLM trailer? Is it because part of its fame derives from the wonderful music? I'm not sure. Here is the link anyway!

If we are talking about trailers, my second favourite one, because of the music and the clips showm has to be that Cinderella one. ITS WONDERFUL !! !! But my all time favourite ws the re-release of TLM in the late 90's, when it was released ot compeate with Anistasia. It has original music form the movie etc, but I just love the beginning, which is much like Snow White's Platinum DVD trailer:

Yea, trailers are just something I've always loved. Sometimes they can make movies look better than they really are, and vice versa. I'm just interested in them. I'd love to make trailers of my own some day. If I ever figure out DVD-ripping stuff, or that Windows Movie Maker thing, I might make music videos and trailers of my own.
Yea, I was thinking that "ah ah ah..." music would be in the beginning, but I was hoping it would be all throughout some how. I wonder if that was original music for that trailer or if it was stock music, but I had never heard it before and it fit in with Cinderella's other music so well.
I've never watched the Alice DVD, I need to rent it or buy it really badly, cause I haven't seen the film in forever!
Personally, I like the new music we hear in trailers, my only qualms with it is that it's not created just for the trailer, and I like original music meant for one thing.
That Snow White trailer may be my favorite of the theatrical ones, and my third favorite of all Snow White ones (the Snow White DVD ones take first and second, with the sleeping beauty, fairy godmother, and little mermaid trailer in first and the lamp, rose and slipper trailer in second). I always loved when the witch says, "Have a bite." It's so creepy! And then of course I love the way "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" appears in gold. The "Heigh-Ho" music is great, too!
It would be interesting if the reason The Little Mermaid trailers always have music from the movie is because its music is so popular, more so than the others, perhaps!
Oh, I meant that princess-themed Snow White DVD trailer had my favorite music, but my favorite trailer of all is the one for Sleeping Beauty's re-release in 1995. That has such amazing music and the clips are edited together so well, and with all the great sound effects, it gives me chills!
That Little Mermaid re-release trailer is wonderful, and it has it's moments, but I don't like how everything was edited together, that's just my personal taste.

I only really like the begginning of the little mermaid one; its kind of like the snow white one, but saying that the little mermaid started off the second period of Disney! I really love that idea!
I thought that we should post trailers, our favourite ones, for each Disney Classics movie. That way we can see what trailer gets original music, new dubbing, etc etc! I'll go and have a search online for some, and see what I come up with!
If anyone else has any, please post!

often movie trailers will nab other music to appeal to a certain audience. mighty Joe Young, took music from The Power of One- to appeal to the adventuresome, African music by Hans Zimmer.
in the 90's many Disney trailers included music from Father of the Bride- in this instance, I beleive it was the chance ofa different life for the music, more than an audience base.
Just a little trick of the trade.

Where on the DVD are you talking about? All of the menus have pieces of the movie's score. I don't think you're talking about a trailer, either, because the theatrical trailers also feature the movie's score, and there was no DVD trailer made for the general public (though it was shown at Disney Stores).atlanticaunderthesea wrote:Also, I love the music to the Alice in Wonderland DVD, and that is certainly not contained in the movie at all.
