What needs to change most desperately at Disneyland?

Post by DARTH KNITE »

Ok, first off let me say, that I love park. I don't open this up be a bashing thread I just feel that are certain things that have just gotten sloppy and gone on for too long. So here's my list of things that I feel are in the most desperate need for an upgrade a remodel or a complete overhaul.

DEAD SPACE:

1. The People Mover/Rocket Rod track: Either remove it, or get a ride on it NOW!!! This looks ridiculous and its been YEARS!!!

2. Reopen the festival arena in Frontierland: Ok, Hunchback is 10 years old, thats fine but its too huge a perfomance space to sellout and use it for corporate events. Give it back to the fans! That area is dead, especially after dark. Do something!!!

3. Honey I shrunk the audience: Still here really? Ok...

4. Critter Country: Was there really no room for the Country Bears and Winnie the Pooh? Coundnt Winnie have gone over where the Candy shop is? Really no room for 4 attractions in this land, only 3? Maybe i'm just bitter, but I loved those damn bears....

5. The shops across from Golden Dreams in DCA. Uh...make them something!!!! They're just empty buildings. Are you kidding?

6. Make a decision about the old Millionaire building and stick to it. Heck, make it a DCA stop for the monorail, it would fit the Hollywood theme ok, just put in something.

7. Can't we reopen Toontown after the fireworks??? With the Fantasyland Theatre dark, this area is dead.

8. Upstairs in the Tommorowland Arcade: Again, sloppy and dead space.

TIME FOR SOMTHING NEW:

1. Star Tours: Ok, so far the only movie we experience is Ep IV: A New Hope. News flash, there have been 5 others. Don't be so cheap, just because Lucas wants to redo it digitally. Let him! You'll get an amazing ride and great attendance which will more then pay for the cost of the upgrade. If there's anything Star Wars fans do, its work in HUGE money giving groups. If you build it, they will come.

2. Muppets 3D: No one's going and it's honestly not that good. I remember being a child and being so angry that DisneyWorld had the muppets and we didn't, now i'm over it. Maybe a redo or something would save this attraction, but its dying.

3. The path leading to the old Sky Way: remodel it, do something, just fix all these eye sores.

4. Tom Sawyers Island: Ok, we've heard the Jack Sparrow rumors and they're horrible!!! But if they don't come to pass, lets just hope Fort Wilderness is reopened and that maybe can incorporate some characters on the island. Last year we saw Tom Sawyer and Pocahontas wondering the island. good touch.

WHAT WE DONT NEED:

1. Another generic Parade. Maybe if we got a hit movie, we could go back to film themed parades, such as the extremely well done Lion King Celebration. Since Mulan, we have just gotten one parade of all the characters after another. Pick a theme, pick a movie, but stick to what worked.

2. Crappy, cheesy, sappy theme songs:
Drawn to the magic in DCA, Parade of Dreams in DL, the main st. Grand marshall theme music...who's writing this crap??? They're embarassing just to listen to. You didn't used to use music like that. Give us something decent. And see if you can't get a group of singers who don't like a robotic PTA choir.

3. Pixarworld:
When you get a hit, you shove it down our throats. Pirates, Nemo, Stitch, Nightmare before christmas....the list goes on. I could have sworn you had other movies, but if you walk in DCA you wouldn't even know you were in a Disney theme park if it weren't for the animation building and Electrical Parade. Bring the classics in. There's plently of room!

MOVIES THAT COULD BE INCORPORATED:

The following films that have been hugely successful and yet are no where in the park.

1. Beauty and the Beast: first animated film nominated for an Oscar and no attraction. Yes, i'm aware they have been in several parades, but is the beast library in DCA enough?

2. Cinderella: Again, in the the parades, but no permanent attraction.

3. Jungle Book: No where in the park? Not even Adventureland or the Jungle Cruise?

4. The Lion King: How much more successful did this have to be? No attraction

THIS AND THAT:

1. Fantasmic!: Please don't copy the Disneyworld version! We've heard the rumors that a upgrade was coming and that's fine, but keep it your own. Also, Bring back the live Ursula! We all remember that.

2. Indiana Jones: That rat hologram DOES NOT WORK! use the technology they incorporate to make Davy Jones in Pirates.

3. Where are the characters?!?!?!:
Bring them out, bring them old, bring them new, bring a lot!!! Not just Mickey and the Princesses.

4. Also, don't think we haven't noticed the absence of Pinocchio in Electrical Parade. Bring it back!!! It's a classic, we don't mind. In fact, bring it back to the Land as well. Also, consider changing the annoucment to "Soon Pinocchio's Blue Fairy will lead the show" or something like that. Kinda how they annouce Tinkerbell before the fireworks. Because no one seems to know who she is. I'm always near a group who doens't have a clue who she is. Normally i'd call them idiots, but it happens a lot. This was also the case during the Lion King Parade when so many people thought Simba was Mufasa and Nala was Simba that they changed the mask to a younger looking version.

Hope I didn't come off too whiny. What do you guys think?

I totally agree with most of what you just said. Beauty and the Beast definefely needs an attraction, and the movie-themed parades need to make a comeback!
