The ages of the Scooby-Doo characters

Post by Big Disney Fan »

How old would you say each of the members of the Mystery, Inc. gang is, from 1 to 4 (1 being oldest and 4 being youngest)? I would say they are:

1) Shaggy
2) Fred
3) Velma
4) Daphne

Granted, that's just my opinion; I'd like to see yours, though.

Well in the late sixties they had to be in their early 20s which would make them senior citizens by now.

I meant disregarding when they were created. I meant if they existed in reality; being cartoon characters they're kinda timeless.

Oh, A Scooby-Doo question! Well, here we go...

I don't have the materials to hand right now, but I'm pretty sure that:

Freddie is 17 (from the original "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?" series, presumably being a cartoon character he still is - see final notes)

While Freddie was the Football captain at school, Shaggy was the school's gymnastics champion (yes, Shaggy is a sports man!). I therefore presume that he is the same school year and age too. 17.

Daphne - well nothing is known of her age (that I'm aware of), so I assume she is from the same school year. 17.

Velma is actually a gifted student and from a year below Daphne. So I assume she is only 16. This is stated in a book I have at home (which may be the DK guide, or one of the Scholistic storybooks)

Of course, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo seems to show the gang as all being the same age (or at least in the same school year). However, this series also features "facts" that contradict "facts" from the main series (such as Shaggy's sibling(s)) so I think this can be ignored.

It should also be noted that in a few of the DTV animated movies (which take place in the same time frame as What's New Scooby-Doo?) the gang have jobs (Freddie and Daphne working for a News network, Velma running her own bookshop and Shaggy doing various casual jobs) indicating that some time may have passed since Scooby-Doo, Where are You?
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Pardon me, this is the wrong thread and the wrong section; go to "General".
